Starting pitchers

Julio Urias (7-2, 3.61 ERA): Urias has been nearly flawless for the Dodgers this season, but he does happen to be coming off of his worst start of the year. The 24-year-old gave up six earned runs on 11 hits in just five innings on the mound, and he just never found himself in that appearance. Urias has electric stuff and can certainly rebound immediately, but he just might be vulnerable coming into this game.

Ian Anderson (4-2, 3.27 ERA): Anderson got pounded by a weak Mets lineup his last time out, giving up four earned runs on seven hits in only four innings of work. Anderson allowed two homers in that game, and he’ll need to be extremely careful against a Dodgers team that has plenty of power. However, the righty only allowed four earned runs in his previous 18.0 innings on the mound, so perhaps he’ll come right out and shake it off.

Moneyline pick

Anderson gave up four earned runs in four innings his last time out, but he had also allowed just one earned run over his previous 12.0 innings heading into that start. An argument can be made that Anderson has been Atlanta’s most reliable pitcher as of late, and he now faces a Los Angeles team that has lost five of its last eight. Not only are the Dodgers struggling, but Anderson pitched seven innings against this team in the postseason last year and allowed only two earned runs over those short appearances. He’ll now look to build on that series and try to give the Braves a quality start. If he can do that, the bats should be able to do enough to get the job done here.

This Braves team loves going up against lefties, and they’re now facing one that is coming off a start in which he was absolutely shelled. Urias has some excellent stuff and misses a lot of bats, but he’ll be in trouble if he can’t get himself going immediately in this one. Ronald Acuna Jr. is batting .359 with four homers and 11 RBI in 39 at bats against lefties this season, and he’s always a threat to put one over the wall.

Guys like Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson will also be looking forward to this matchup. Albies is batting .327 with five homers and 13 RBI against lefties this year, and Swanson’s .239 average goes up to .273 against southpaws. Overall, Atlanta’s odds just seem like a tough value to pass up.

PREDICTION: Braves ML +108

Over/Under pick

Five of the last six games the Dodgers have played have gone Over the total, and their offense has been a big part of that, despite Los Angeles having dropped five of its last eight games coming into this one. The Dodgers should really be able to get a couple of runs off of Anderson in this game, and the same goes for the Braves and Urias.

This Atlanta team loves facing left-handed pitching, and Urias isn’t exactly high on confidence after his shaky outing his last time out. Once these teams get to the bullpens, their offenses should be even better.

PREDICTION: Over 9.0 (+100)
