Phillies vs Cubs Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

Jesus Luzardo is in line for a quick hook today as the Phillies lefty takes on a Cubs lineup that has been dialed in at the dish, per our MLB betting picks. Look for Dansby Swanson and Ian Happ to do damage in this spot.

The Chicago Cubs are riding a three-game winning streak as they welcome the Philadelphia Phillies to Wrigley Field for Game 2 of their three-game series.

The Chicago bats have been hot, and my Phillies vs. Cubs predictions anticipate an early exit for Philadelphia lefty Jesus Luzardo.

Read on for my MLB picks for Saturday, April 26.

Phillies vs Cubs prediction

My Phillies vs Cubs best bet: Jesus Luzardo Under 17.5 outs (+126 at Caesars)

The Chicago Cubs have scored the most runs in baseball and have plated the third-most against left-handed arms.

The Cubs' .315 BABIP against lefties suggests they’ve even been a little unlucky, and if a .396 wOBA and 154 wRC+ is unfortunate, what happens when Chicago’s luck turns around?

More runs. The Cubs score runs with the Wrigley winds blowing out, and score runs on chilly days like today when the wind is blowing in from left field.

Philadelphia Phillies lefty Jesus Luzardo has his work cut out for him this afternoon.

The Phillies' lefty has allowed fewer than three runs in all five starts (30 1/3 frames) and boasts a 2.08 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. However, the Philadelphia southpaw’s underlying metrics suggest Luzardo may have been a little lucky. His .329 BABIP and 2.80 xFIP suggest regression is coming, and that could come as soon as today.

The Cubs have scored four or more runs in four of their last five games with elite strikeout (17%) and walk rates (12%) against lefties.

Phillies vs Cubs same-game parlay (SGP)

Jesus Luzardo Under 5.5 strikeouts

Dansby Swanson 1+ hits

Ian Happ 1+ hits

Pitching outs aren’t included in SGP markets, so I’ll opt for Luzardo’s strikeout total and hitting props for two red-hot Cubs with some past success against the Phillies lefty.

Luzardo is whiffing nearly 11 hitters per nine frames, and he’s struck out at least six in four of his previous five starts, but he meets a Cubs offense with an elite eye at the plate that doesn’t strike out much (17.5%).

Cubs SS Dansby Swanson has hit safely in three straight and in six of 10. He also has three knocks in 10 at-bats against Luzardo.

Cubs OF Ian Happ has also been hot. Happ is riding a four-game hitting streak with at least one hit in eight of his previous 10 games. He also boasts two hits in 10 at-bats against the Phillies starter.
