Kings vs Oilers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Sunday's NHL Playoffs Game 4

It's been a parade of goals in this Kings-Oilers series so far, and our NHL betting picks don't see any signs of it stopping in Game 4 this Sunday night.

The Edmonton Oilers had their backs against the wall as they returned home for Game 3 of this series, but they were able to find a way to get themselves back into the series with a 7-4 win.

The one constant theme of this series has been goal-scoring, and my Kings vs. Oilers predictions and NHL picks for Sunday, April 27 expect that to continue in Game 4.

Who will win Kings vs Oilers Game 4?

We’ve known all season long that the Los Angeles Kings were unbelievable on home ice, and lackluster on the road. Friday night’s outcome just continued that trend.

The Edmonton Oilers' power play finally showed up, as they got on the score sheet for the first time in this series, converting on both of their attempts in the game. If the Oilers' power play gets hot, especially at home, it will be trouble for the Kings.

Darcy Kuemper didn't have his best showing in Game 3 as he allowed five goals against on the 34 shots that he faced, while Calvin Pickard inserted himself into the series and made some big saves. Pickard’s numbers weren’t all that impressive, but he made the timely saves when he needed to, which is all you can ask.

The Oilers have momentum now; they couldn’t find any in the first two games, but their power play coming up big is exactly what could shift this series in their favor. They need Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard to produce offensively, and boy have they.

McDavid has seven points (2G, 5A), while Draisaitl and Bouchard each have five (2G, 3A) through three games in this series. The Kings were 17-19-5 on the road this season, and their struggles on the road seem to be continuing into the postseason.

Kings vs Oilers prediction

My Kings vs Oilers pick: Over 6 (-120 at BET99)

This series has combined for 30 goals through the first three games, which is absolutely bonkers. The Oilers have had defensive issues all season long and it has shown throughout this series thus far, but what the Oilers have that sets them apart are two of the best players in the world in McDavid and Draisaitl.

These two have carried Edmonton offensively, especially at home, where they average 3.36 goals per game. On the road, the Kings are giving up 3.07 goals against per contest.

These teams are the two highest-scoring teams in the playoffs thus far, and they have each given up the most goals against. The Kings are scoring 5.33 goals per game, largely due to their power play scoring at a 58.3% clip. The Oilers penalty kill has had zero response for the Kings' man-advantage. Adrian Kempe and Kevin Fiala have been dynamite on the power play, as the two have combined for nine points through three games.

The Oilers are the second-highest scoring team, averaging 4.67 goals per game, and their power-play percentage has increased after the success in Game 3. It now sits at 28.6%.

Kuemper now has the worst goals saved above expected in the playoffs, skating to a -5.2 rating. Pickard, after playing one game, has the sixth-worst ranking at -1.5 GSAx. The goaltending cannot be relied on.

Kings vs Oilers same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 6

Zach Hyman to have 1+ points

Evan Bouchard to have 1+ points

Zach Hyman is one of the Oilers' most important players and has put up three points in the series thus far. He has points in two of the three games and none of them have come on the man-advantage. That said, now that the Oilers' power play has come through, there’s a good chance Hyman will be able to contribute on it in Game 4.

Evan Bouchard scored both of the Oilers power-play goals in Game 3, and everything that happens on the man-advantage typically starts with him. Bouchard had a disappointing first two games of the series, but seemed to make up for it with his performance in Game 3, at least the offensive part of the game.
