Today’s best MLB props
Prop bet #1: Ryne Nelson Over 4.5 strikeouts
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson has been lights out since the start of July, pitching to a 2.73 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP and 55 strikeouts through 56 innings.
Today, Nelson faces a Boston Red Sox squad that strikes out at the third-highest rate in the majors. Boston's lineup is stacked with left-handed batters, but Nelson has excellent reverse platoon splits, holding lefties to a BA of .236.
Nelson has racked up 5+ strikeouts in seven of his last eight starts, averaging 6.5 strikeouts per start during that span. Take the Over 4.5 strikeouts for Nelson here.
Prop bet #2: Jazz Chisholm Jr. Over 1.5 runs + hits + RBI
The New York Yankees get some good news with Jazz Chisholm Jr. slotting back into the lineup after missing 10 days with a UCL sprain. There were initial concerns in the media about the severity of the injury, but Chisholm said he was swinging the bat without pain on Wednesday.
Chisolm has been phenomenal since being acquired at the trade deadline. The infielder has slashed .316/.361/.702 with seven home runs, 11 RBI, and 13 runs scored in 14 games with the Yankees.
He's poised for a big game tonight at home against the Colorado Rockies and southpaw Kyle Freeland, who has a 5.97 ERA in 14 starts. While home/away splits can sometimes be extreme for Colorado pitchers, Freeland is surprisingly worse on the road, where he has an OBA of .364 this year and had a .303 OBA last season.
Chisholm also boasts better numbers against lefties, and with the Rockies having just one right-hander in their bullpen, there's a good chance he'll hold the reverse split advantage all game. This is a five-star prop from THE BAT X, projecting 2.1 runs, hits, and RBI from Chisholm.
Prop bet #3: Riley Greene Over 1.5 total bases
Riley Greene enjoyed a rest day yesterday as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for almost a month. Greene returned to the Detroit Tigers lineup last Sunday, and while he went 0-for-8 in his first two games back, he shook off the rust by going 2-for-4 with a homer on Wednesday.
Greene is slugging .483 and leads Detroit with 185 total bases in 104 games. The outfielder had a slow start to the year but has slashed .292/.373/.541 over his last 50 games.
Today, Greene and the Tigers are hosting the Chicago White Sox and starter Chris Flexen, who has a 5.46 ERA with a 1.52 WHIP through 24 starts. Greene will have the platoon advantage against Flexen, who allows left-handed hitters to slug .543. Bet on the Detroit outfielder to pick up more than 1.5 total bases against Flexen and a brutal Chicago bullpen.
