Jose Ramirez is one of the best players in baseball and his extreme platoon splits play nicely into my favorite MLB picks for today's slate of games.
See why I'm also backing Cardinals slugger Paul Goldschmidt and Mariners backstop Cal Raleigh with my best MLB player props for Friday, August 30.
MLB props for August 30
- Ramirez Over 1.5 total bases (-130 at bet365)
- Goldschmidt 2+ total bases (+165 at bet365)
- Raleigh Over 0.5 RBI (+140 at bet365)
Today’s best MLB props
Prop bet #1: Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 total bases
Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez is slashing .274/.332/.531 and ranks ninth in the majors with 273 total bases through 131 games. The switch-hitting Ramirez absolutely crushes southpaws, batting .353 with a slugging percentage of .693 against them this year. That's great news for the six-time All-Star today since he'll be facing the Pittsburgh Pirates and lefty Bailey Falter.
Falter has an expected ERA of 5.11 and sits in the bottom 20th percentile in barrel rate, exit velocity, and ground ball rate. He's been even worse since the start of June, pitching to a 5.63 ERA with an OBA of .335 through 11 starts. Things won't get any better for Pittsburgh when Falter leaves the game, as their bullpen ranks 27th in the majors in ERA (4.58) and WHIP (1.39).
With Ramirez also seeing his numbers tick up across the board at home, take the Over 1.5 on his total bases.
Prop bet #2: Paul Goldschmidt 2+ total bases
Although Paul Goldschmidt got off to an ugly start this season, he's been hitting the ball much better lately.
Since the start of July, the St. Louis Cardinals first baseman has slugged .462 in 47 contests and is now set to face embattled New York Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman. The veteran right-hander has pitched to a 5.29 ERA with an OBA of .288 through his last 13 starts, and Goldschmidt has gone 11-for-27 with three dingers and a pair of doubles versus Stroman.
Expect the Cardinals slugger to keep raking against the Yankees hurler tonight.
Prop bet #3: Cal Raleigh Over 0.5 RBI
With the Los Angeles Angels stuck at the bottom of the AL West, they've been aggressively promoting players to give experience to their prospects.
That includes giving Sam Aldegheri his first career start today against the Seattle Mariners. The 22-year-old pitched to a 5.29 ERA in four starts at Double-A Rocket City, and he could be out of his depth here.
That's music to the ears of the Mariners and Cal Raleigh. The catcher has jacked 27 homers and is tied for 19th in the majors with 80 RBI. Raleigh also hits significantly better away from the pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park, slugging .536 with 20 dingers on the road.
Raleigh bats third in Seattle's lineup and the Mariners do a much better job of getting on base on the road. Grab the Over 0.5 RBI for Raleigh at plus money.
