All but two of the 30 MLB teams are in action today, which means a litany of player props are available for bettors to parse through. We’ve done the hard work to come up with our top three selections.
We’ll be backing one of the AL’s best pitchers to record another victory on the mound, a red-hot Twins' batter, and support a former NL MVP to continue his hitting ways.
Here are our best MLB player props for Friday, August 5.

Cease’s win streak continues
Dylan Cease has the third-most wins of any AL pitcher this season and could force a tie for second with Alek Manoah, assuming he and the Chicago White Sox handle their business against the Texas Rangers on Friday night.
Cease has won four straight starts, pitching to a 0.76 ERA in the process. His incredible run of success stretches back to May 29, in which he owns a 0.51 ERA in the span of 12 starts. Cease’s stinginess on the road has been unbelievable as well, as the right-hander boasts a 1.30 ERA over 48 1-3 innings of work as the visitor in 2022.
He should be able to flummox a Rangers' lineup that ranks just 17th in runs per game at home this season. Meanwhile, the White Sox hitters should have their way with Glenn Otto, who has just one quality start to his credit over his last eight outings. Otto hasn’t received that much run support in that span either, going winless.
Dylan Cease Prop: Record a win (+100)
Buxton doesn’t stop here
Byron Buxton should find a way to cross the plate for the Minnesota Twins tonight, as he'll match up against Jose Berrios of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Jose Berrios has really struggled on the road this year for the Jays. Berrios is 2-4 with a 4.96 ERA and a .311 opponent batting average over 50 1-3 innings of work away from home this season.
Buxton has been driven in seven times in the last 10 occasions that he’s reached base safely. In three different instances, he drilled a home run. Buxton has two extra-base hits (including a four-bagger), two RBI, and two walks in nine prior meetings with Berrios.
Whether he’s leading off or not, the speedy outfielder should be part of an early assault on this opponent.
Byron Buxton Prop: Over 0.5 runs (-110 at BetRivers)
Yelich won’t be quiet
Christian Yelich should be part of any same game parlay involving the heavily-favored Milwaukee Brewers. The Brew Crew play Cincinnati this evening, and Yelich has been swinging a hot bat since the All-Star break — hitting .327.
Even when he struggled earlier in the year, he still found a way to rake against the Cincinnati Reds. Yelich owns a .324 average over 34 at-bats against Reds pitching in 2022. He has yet to face Robert Dugger in his career, but Yelich should be able to handle a starter that sports a lackluster career ERA of 6.97.
More importantly for this prop, Dugger has surrendered 11.2 hits per nine innings as a major leaguer dating back to 2019.
Christian Yelich Prop: Over 0.5 Hits (-240 at FanDuel)
