My analysis

Lane Thomas went hitless in the Cleveland Guardians’ 5-4 extra-innings win last night but that doesn’t diminish the incredible month he's been having at the plate.

Thomas’ 16 RBI in 16 games is the third most in the majors this month, trailing only Manny Machado and Brent Rooker, who have 19 apiece.

After being acquired from the Nationals in late July, the 29-year-old had a brutal first month with the Guardians, batting an abysmal .143 with just three RBI in August. Still, he’s turned things around significantly over the last two and a half weeks.

Thomas’ average is up to .297 in September as he’s collected a hit in 12 of 16 games while recording at least one RBI in nine. He’s been especially hot lately with 13 RBI over his last 12 games.

While Thomas’ 59 RBI on the season are a far cry from team leaders Jose Ramirez (107) and Josh Naylor (105), those two have driven in just 10 combined runs this month. That said, I’ll stick with the hot hand as I expect Thomas’ run of offense to continue.

Twins vs Guardians same-game parlay (SGP)

Lane Thomas 1+ RBI

Simeon Woods Richardson Over 1.5 walks

Under 8

I’ll hop over to the Minnesota Twins for the second leg of my same-game parlay and banking on some inefficiency from starter Simeon Woods Richardson. The right-hander has not pitched deep into ballgames of late, throwing just 11 total innings over his last three outings, but he’s still issued 2+ walks in each of his last six.

I’ll also take the Under 8 as both clubs have been pretty low-scoring of late. The Twins have scored four runs or fewer in five of their last six games while the Guardians have cashed the Under in eight of their last 11 contests..
