Clippers vs Nuggets Picks and Predictions: Rocky Terrain Proves Unsuitable for Los Angeles

The Clippers travel to Denver without Kawhi Leonard or Paul George to face the Nuggets and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. There's no point overthinking this. We like the Nuggets to cruise through their visitors in our NBA betting picks.

Clippers vs Nuggets picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

Before suffering a blowout loss at the hands of the Utah Jazz last game, the Nuggets had won four of their last five games and covered in three of those victories. Denver is starting to play a little better at this point in the season and now hosts a Los Angeles group that simply isn’t very good as currently constructed. The Clippers are doing a decent job staying afloat without Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, but they’re in over their heads when they face superior competition.

These teams have met twice in a little over three weeks, but both of those games were hard-fought battles in Los Angeles. Now, it’s time for Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets to play in front of their home fans. And after the Nuggets averaged just 94 points in those games in L.A., look for them to be a bit more explosive on offense. The Denver role players should do a better job of supporting Jokic in a building they’re more comfortable in.

The Clippers are also 5-13 ATS when coming off an ATS win this season. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are 14-3 ATS when coming off a home loss to a division opponent under Mike Malone.

Prediction: Nuggets -7.5 (-110)

The Under has hit in the last two meetings between these two teams, but that shouldn’t scare you off of taking the Over tonight. This number has been set extremely low and the Nuggets are going to make more shots on their home floor. That alone will help make this more of a high-scoring game, as the Clippers will also have to try to keep up with Denver’s pace in that scenario.

The Over has now hit in each of the Nuggets' last three games, and they’re actually averaging 125.0 points in that span. With Denver playing a lot better on offense recently, it’s not a bad idea to jump on these numbers while they’re still low. The team is also rather lousy on defense, which only adds to the value.

Prediction: Over 213 (-110)

The Clippers aren’t a high-scoring team, but it’s not like they aren’t capable of playing games with a lot of offense. They won 139-133 over the Indiana Pacers the last time they played, so that shows this isn’t a group that always plays grind-it-out contests.

It’s also worth noting that the Over is 6-0-1 when the Nuggets are coming off of a blowout loss by 20 or more points to a division rival since Malone took over.

Pick: Over 213 (-110)
