NBA Draft Round 2 analysis
Duke standout big Kyle Filipowski sits near the top of "best available" boards heading into Thursday's second round, but the sophomore's stock fell steadily this season amid concerns about offensive upside and defensive mobility at the next level. Still, he's a skilled big with a high floor, and should hear his name called within the first few picks tonight.
Johnny Furphy was a mild surprise to fall out of the first round, and while his shooting touch and headiness aren't in question, he's still seen largely as an NBA project. He is only 19, but with a short wingspan and not seen as an elite athlete, there are questions about how much he can be exploited on defense at the pro level.
Tyler Kolek gave Big East defenses headaches all season with his deft playmaking, and he's exactly the kind of hustle-heavy, high-IQ prospect that can make an impact in second units right away. Kolek's also a capable shooter, and showed out at the Combine drills.
