It’s a jam-packed Wednesday night of NBA action with 13 games on the schedule, and one of the most intriguing ones will go down at Ball Arena, where the Denver Nuggets will host the Sacramento Kings.

These two Western Conference foes faced off just five days ago with the Kings thumping the Nuggets 135-106 as 3-point home favorites in the NBA odds. The win was Sacramento’s second against Denver this season.

However, the Nuggets were playing the second half of a back-to-back in that matchup and now it’s the Kings' turn to be in that position with the Nuggets listed as home chalk.

But Nikola Jokic may have to shoulder more of the load tonight, as Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope aren’t expected to play.

Can Denver exact some revenge even without some key pieces, or will Sacramento improve to 3-0 on the season against the defending champs? I break down this Western Conference matchup and bring you the best bet in my NBA picks and predictions for Kings vs. Nuggets on Wednesday, February 14.

Kings vs Nuggets odds

Kings vs Nuggets predictions

The Sacramento Kings taking on the Denver Nuggets tonight is an interesting matchup for a ton of reasons.

For starters, the Kings have won both meetings so far this season. They took a 123-117 decision as 3.5-point home favorites back on Dec. 2 and followed that up with a 135-106 thumping as 3-point home chalk just last Friday.

The interesting thing about all three meetings is a back-to-back will be involved in all three. Both teams were playing a back-to-back on Dec. 2, and Denver was playing its second game in as many nights on Feb. 9. Tonight, it’s Sacramento’s turn to be on a rest disadvantage.

The Kings are coming off a hard-fought 130-125 loss at the hands of Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns last night. The other interesting thing about the Kings here is that the last game against the Nuggets is really the only one they’ve played well recently. They are 1-4 SU/ATS in their last five games overall.

So, it’s no surprise to see Denver listed as a 5-point home favorite this time around. That said, the Nuggets aren’t playing their best basketball right now either. They have lost back-to-back games where the offense has sputtered, putting up 106 points or fewer in each.

On top of that, both Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope left the Nuggets' last game at halftime and did not return. They are both unlikely to play in this one.

Now, by the numbers, the Nuggets should be a bad matchup for the Kings. Sacramento relies heavily on the 3-ball, taking the third-most and making the fourth-most 3-pointers per game in the NBA. Denver allows the second-fewest 3-point attempts and third-fewest makes.

But that hasn’t been a problem for the Kings in this matchup. Sacramento went 16-for-34 (47%) from beyond the arc back on Dec. 2 and followed that by knocking down half of their 34 3-pointers last Friday. Not having KCP is a problem as he is arguably Denver’s best perimeter defender, and it sounds like they’ll be without him once again tonight.

So, the question is, who do we back from the Kings when it comes to the 3-ball tonight? There are plenty of options. De’Aaron Fox obviously. Malik Monk has been lighting it up. Or even Keegan Murray. But no, I’m looking at the Kevin Huerter odds.

The Kings' shooting guard is having a bit of a down year overall when it comes to his 3-point shooting. Huerter is hitting 36.9% of his attempts despite being a career 38.3% 3-point shooter. But those numbers have improved recently.

Huerter is draining 44.3% of his 6.5 attempted 3s per game over his last 15 tilts. Now, he’s only hit 4 of 10 over his last three games, but I believe that’s giving us some value when it comes to his number.

Huerter’s made 3s prop is on the board at 1.5 with the Over juiced to at least -130 at most shops. So, instead, let’s go to his alt-3s market. He’s hit three or more 3s seven times over this 15-game period. He’s also 6-for-10 from downtown against the Nuggets this season. At +280, there’s value in him to hit three or more triples tonight.

Kings vs Nuggets same-game parlay

Kevin Huerter 3+ made 3s

Kings +5.5

Domantas Sabonis Over 13.5 rebounds

The Nuggets are in a weird spot right now. They aren’t playing their best and are dealing with injuries, and the Kings have been a problem for them this season. Even though it’s Sacramento’s second game in as many nights, and at elevation no less, I’m taking the points with the Kings.

Let's round this same-game parlay out with a Domantas Sabonis prop. The Kings' big man is averaging a whopping 13.2 rebounds per game this season. And while the Nuggets are a good rebounding team, that hasn’t stopped Sabonis from putting up some big numbers on the boards. In the two meetings this season, Sabonis has hauled down 15 and 17 boards, respectively.

With the Nuggets missing one of their better shooters, don’t be afraid of the big number. Add the Over 13.5 rebounds for Sabonis here.

Kings vs Nuggets spread and Over/Under analysis

The Nuggets opened this Western Conference matchup as 6-point home favorites. Since then they have been faded down to -5 and have bounced back and forth between that number and 5.5.

Like I said, this is a really interesting spot here. The Nuggets have the rest advantage, but are banged up and have covered just three spreads in their last 11 games. And while they should be a tough matchup for the Kings with their strong 3-point defense, they haven’t been.

The Kings have won both meetings thanks to shooting the 3-ball extremely well. This is a tough back-to-back spot, but this is enough points to have me leaning toward the underdog.

When it comes to the total, that hit the board at 229.5 and has mostly stayed put all day. The Dec. 2 meeting closed at 234.5 and went Over by 5.5 points. Last Friday’s matchup closed at 230 and also went Over, this time by 11 points.

I think the number here is pretty good considering the absence of Murray, and the Kings’ potential fatigue. I’ll stay away, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this matchup went Over once again.
