My analysis
Darius Garland is having a spectacular campaign for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are looking like a legitimate title contender. The guard is averaging 21.7 ppg on an efficient 42.5% clip from 3-point land. He’s also dishing out 6.8 assists per game.
The Vanderbilt product was given a rest day on Wednesday and Cleveland still put in work, beating the drama-filled Heat by 20 points. However, before Garland got a day off, he was on a roll. The 25-year-old has hit the Over in points in six of his previous eight outings.
Garland even erupted for 39 points five days ago against a very strong Rockets squad. January has been his best month of the season by far, averaging 24.7 points in 13 contests. As for facing the Atlanta Hawks, he’s dominated them this season as well, averaging 24 ppg across two meetings.
He'll come into this contest very fresh and I have no doubts Garland will keep it going. He’s playing confident basketball, and Atlanta hasn’t shown any ability to stop him from producing offensively so far this season.

While Garland is playing well, Donovan Mitchell is still the main man in Cleveland. Mitchell can do a little bit of everything, but arguably his strongest asset offensively is his 3-point shooting. The guard is draining 39.8% of his triples this season, averaging 3.7 makes on 9.3 attempts per game.
Although Spida is converting just 3.2 treys per game in January, he’s hammered the Over in five of his last seven games. Mitchell was red-hot from deep in the victory over Miami, going 5-for-11. He hit the Over once against Atlanta earlier in the campaign while staying Under 3.5 in the other matchup.
Of course, there’s always the possibility Mitchell has an off night from long range. That being said, he'll be confident after getting hot against the Heat, and that could very well continue tonight. Atlanta is also towards the bottom of the NBA in opponent 3-point percentage.
Yes, my first two picks highlight Cleveland's star duo, but the Hawks have surprisingly played well against Cleveland in recent memory. They’ve won three in a row against the Eastern Conference leaders as underdogs.
I’m not going to say the Hawks will come out victorious once again, especially because they’re in the midst of a six-game skid. That’s likely a huge reason the visitors are 10.5-point underdogs tonight. However, Atlanta has beaten Cleveland by an average of 12 points across the last three meetings.
From that alone, I could certainly see the Hawks covering. Quin Snyder’s squad is also 10-8 as an ATS road underdog this season.
