Spread analysis
The Warriors have looked like one of the best teams in basketball again, and they have done so without Klay Thompson and James Wiseman. When those two return, it’s entirely possible that this group will be competing for a championship.
As of right now, Golden State is first in the entire league in defensive rating, which is absurd when considering that the team has Stephen Curry to handle things on the other end of the floor. Overall, that’s not great news for a New Orleans team that is just 24th in the league in offensive rating and 28th in defensive rating.
The Pelicans, who could be without Brandon Ingram and Herb Jones in this game, are likely going to struggle to score on the Warriors, and they also lack the right defensive options to slow down Golden State’s explosive backcourt — Thompson might be out, but Jordan Poole has been outstanding. Ingram is the team’s best offensive player, so they’ll really need him out there. However, Jones is another guy that the team can’t afford to be without, as he has looked like a tremendous multi-positional defender.
This is a game that isn’t exactly worth overthinking. It’s just a massive mismatch in every regard, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Golden State won in a blowout.

Over/Under analysis
Considering New Orleans’ struggles offensively, it’s not likely that it will snap out of it and put up a big number against a Golden State defense that has been extremely locked in this season. The only player that could give the Warriors some real issues in this game is Jonas Valanciunas, who has the size to really bully Draymond Green in the paint. However, the Warriors can stick Kevon Looney on him and have others help out a bit, when needed. Steve Kerr’s group has figured out how to deal with similar situations in the past, and it won’t bog the Warriors down here.
Golden State comes into this one after having gone Under in six games in a row, and New Orleans has gone Under in their last two. The Pelicans are also averaging just 99.5 points per game over the last two games, which shows how important Ingram is to their offense. There’s a chance they fail to crack 100 in this game, which would be delightful for Under bettors.
Prediction: Under 214.5 (-110)
Best bet
Depending on where you look, Green’s assist total can be found as high as 8.5, so you should definitely keep your options open and search for the lowest number. This player prop can be found at 7.5 elsewhere, and that’s a tremendous value for Golden State’s de facto point guard.
Green has dished out at least eight assists in three of the last four games, and he’s going to have the ball in his hands a lot in this one. This doesn’t need to be a high-scoring game for him to hit this mark, which is the beauty of a play like this. The Pelicans simply have too many defensive breakdowns and Green will take advantage of those by finding his teammates for open looks.
