Today presents us with an interesting betting angle on the NBA calendar. The NBA All-Star roster was finalized last night, and while several players are celebrating another close ASG nod, you also have the inverse: snubs.
Who were the deserving players left out of the All-Star game? And who will let the NBA know how they feel about that with their play on the court tonight? Well, I’ve highlighted some of those players and their props, where we’ll be getting an added edge tonight.
Here are my best NBA player prop picks for Friday, February 3.

Dash of spice
Let’s get this out of the way early: This may be a little bit of homer talk, but I think Pascal Siakam’s exclusion from the All-Star game is the most egregious error among the NBA All-Star selections.
Yes. The Toronto Raptors are a bad basketball team at the moment. But that should not take away from what Siakam has done this season. The Raptors’ forward is averaging 24.9 points on 47% shooting while adding 8 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. And if those numbers hold, Siakam would become the first player in the NBA to average 25/8/6 and not be selected for an All-Star game.
Spicy P has been overlooked for much of his career, beginning with being drafted 27th overall back in 2016, so he may not have the same chip on his shoulder as some of the other guys we highlight tonight. But I do know that Siakam will go out and do his job tonight against the Houston Rockets.
There are lots of ways to attack the Rockets when it comes to player props, but Houston’s biggest problem is on the perimeter.
The Rockets surrender the most 3-point attempts and makes per game in the NBA while also ranking 22nd in opponent 3-point shooting percentage.
Now, Siakam isn’t exactly known for his 3-point shooting, hitting 31.4% of his threes. But he takes 4.1 threes per game and tends to take advantage of situations that are presented to him. The combination of the matchup with the Rockets and the +165 payout makes the Over 1.5 on Spicy P’s made 3-pointers prop worth a bet tonight.
SIDE NOTE: I’m also on Siakam’s teammate Fred VanVleet to go Over 3.5 made 3-pointers at +110. Steady Freddy is shooting 41% from three over his last nine games and has hit four or more six times in that stretch. He also went 7-for-16 from beyond the arc vs. the Rockets back on Nov. 9.
Pascal Siakam prop: Over 1.5 made 3-pointers (+165)
Ant hustles
It sounds like Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been mentally preparing himself for his All-Star snub. But that doesn’t make it any easier.
Edwards obviously has shown his potential in the last two seasons, but he’s really breaking out now. The former No. 1 overall pick is putting up career highs in points (24.9), rebounds (6.1), assists (4.6), and steals (1.7). All while shooting a career-best 46.4% from the field and 37.3% from 3-point range.
In tonight’s game against the Orlando Magic, we’re going to focus on Edwards’ 3-point shooting.
As noted, he’s shooting a career-best from beyond the arc, but he’s been even better lately, draining a crazy good 45.7% of his threes over the last seven games. And it’s not like this is a small sample: he’s taking 10 threes per game over that stretch.
Edwards will have a great opportunity to keep jacking up the treys tonight vs. the Magic. Orlando surrenders the third-most 3-point attempts and makes per game in the NBA.
Edwards is coming off a bit of a rough night, going 2-for-11 from three against the Golden State Warriors, but in the six games previous he hit four or more threes five times. I’m backing him to get back on track and go Over his made 3-pointers prop at enticing plus money.
Anthony Edwards prop: Over 3.5 made 3-pointers (+140)
Young and Restless
Our final All-Star snub-themed player prop is none other than Trae Young. The Atlanta Hawks point guard hasn’t needed bulletin board material to motivate him and play with an edge in the past.
But you know New York’s favorite villain is going to use not being selected as an All-Star to fuel him tonight when the Hawks visit the Utah Jazz. The team was quick to make the case for Young following his snubbing:
List of NBA players averaging 27 PTS and 9+ AST
— Atlanta Hawks (@ATLHawks) February 3, 2023
Trae Young
End of list.
Young's averaging 27 points and 9.9 assists per game this season and he has shot the ball better in January, hitting 46.2 percent of his attempts inkling 36% from 3-point range over 15 games in 2023. So, he was going to be a tough matchup for this Jazz team before he was slighted.
That’s also because the Jazz have issues slowing down guards. Utah ranks 22nd in the NBA when it comes to points allowed per game and 24th in opponent field goal percentage allowed to opposing guards this season. And they have been getting absolutely torched lately.
They just gave up 34 to Fred VanVleet in their last game against the Raptors, Spencer Dinwiddie went for 35 for a Luka Doncic-less Mavs team, Ant put up 29, and James Harden scored 31. And those aren’t even the bad results! Donovan Mitchell dropped 46, Kyrie Irving went off for 48, and Dame Lillard went nuclear putting up a 60-spot. All these results have happened in the last 10 games for the Jazz. Woof.
So, yeah. I’m backing Young to go over his points total in a game where he has a chip on his shoulder.
Trae Young prop: Over 28.5 points (-108)
