A new week of NBA action kicks off with a solid slate. There are eight games on the board for hungry bettors to dig into, which means plenty of value to be found in the NBA player prop market.
We look at the Celtics' matchup with the Pistons, back DeMar DeRozan to keep dishing dimes for the Bulls, and look at Klay Thompson stepping up in the absence of Steph Curry.
I break it all down in my NBA player prop picks for Monday, February 6.
NBA player props for February 6
- Williams to record double-double (+270)
- DeRozan Over 5.5 assists (+125)

Time Lord takes over
The Boston Celtics are coming off a tough loss against the Suns and cries are already coming from the fan base to make a move to help put this Celtics team over the top. That said, this is still the top team in the East and will have a great chance to bounce back tonight against the Detroit Pistons.
The Pistons have dropped seven of their last nine games and opposing big men have been a big problem for them this season. Detroit gives up the second-most points in the paint per game this season and rank just 21st in rebounding rate and 25th in opponent rebounds per game.
Translation: I think this is a great opportunity for the Time Lord to have a big day. C’s center Robert Williams missed the first two months of the season with a knee injury, but he’s starting to find his groove. He’s averaging 8.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season.
Williams only has three double-doubles this season, but he has missed a handful more by just one bucket or one board. The Pistons have also been giving more and more minutes to rookie center Jalen Duren, so that should mean more time on the floor for Williams.
At almost 3-to-1, it’s worth a shot to back Williams to record a double-double in this spot.
Robert Williams prop: To record a double-double (+270)
DeMar keeps dishing
The Chicago Bulls are hanging on to one of the final play-in spots in the Eastern Conference but it will be interesting to see if the team buys or sells ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. Either way, the team is playing a little better of late and has won three of their last four.
Part of the reason for that is the play of DeMar DeRozan. We all know DeRozan’s midrange game is as smooth as they come but the recently selected All-Star is also doing his best to keep his teammates involved in the offense as well.
DeRozan averages 5.0 assists per game this season but over the last four games, that has bumped up to 6.8 and he's dished out seven or more dimes three times over that stretch. He should be able to keep that going tonight against his former team.
The Spurs seem much more focused on the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes than slowing down opposing teams. San Antonio ranks dead last in the NBA in defensive rating and a big reason for that is getting killed by the extra pass this season. No team in the NBA gives up more assists per game than the Spurs.
With DeRozan looking like the Bulls’ primary distributor of late combined with some decent plus money, I’m looking at the Over 5.5 on his assists in this matchup tonight.
DeMar DeRozan prop: Over 5.5 assists (+125)
Vintage Klay
Steph Curry is sidelined for the foreseeable future with a torn ligament in his leg. That means someone is going to have to step up and get buckets for the Golden State Warriors. And in tonight’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, my money is on the other Splash Brother.
Klay Thompson had already picked up his game of late. Over 15 games since Christmas Day, Thompson has been averaging 25.5 points while shooting 41.1% from 3-point range. His field goal attempts have gone up from 16.4 per game before Christmas to 20.7 after — and that was before Curry went out.
Tonight, Thompson will take the court against an upstart Thunder team, but one that can have trouble containing opposing guards. OKC surrenders the second-most points per game in the NBA to opposing guards while also allowing them to attempt the most 3-pointers per game.
Thompson also found success when these teams last met just last week. Thompson went for 28 points on 10 of 21 shooting, including 6-for-14 from beyond the arc.
His point total for this matchup sits at 24.5 and I’m not sure NBA odds have adjusted enough for Thompson’s improved play and the absence of Curry. He’s gone Over this number eight times in the last 15 games. I like him to step up without Steph and do so once again.
Klay Thompson prop: Over 24.5 points (-120)
