You can't always shoot for the stars.
While it's fun and perhaps more accessible to back the NBA's best for player props, sometimes the true value lies in less-bet markets.
Those will be our focus today as we back some of the league's unsung studs: an out-of-nowhere rookie, a youngster making the most of his new opportunity, and a borderline All-Star who's being criminally slept on.
Check out our NBA player prop picks for Saturday, January 15.

Today’s best NBA player props
Yurtseven-Eleven
We stung an Omer Yurtseven Over rebounds prop the other night, at what seemed like an auto-bet, with the Uzbekistanian center rocking one of the league's most impressive rebound rates.
Of course, Yurtseven failed to convert in back-to-back games against the Hawks, but the books seem to have over-corrected and have his rebounds O/U relatively un-juiced at 9.5 tonight.
Yes, we understand that Philly plays at a glacial pace and Joel Emdiid's a dominant force on the glass, but Yurtseven has grabbed double-digit rebounds in thirteen straight games. The empirical evidence of him getting consistent minutes and not hauling in 10+ boards literally does not exist.
This total feels like his absolute floor, even against Embiid, and Yurtseven has earned the benefit of the doubt here. With Bam Adebayo targeting a Monday return, this market's value is about the shrivel up. Hammer it again while we can.
Pick: Omer Yurtseven Over 9.5 rebounds (-115 at DraftKings)
Malik's streak
The Lakers have been more or less a worst-case scenario this season, but one of the few bright spots has been the recent play of summer tag-along Malik Monk.
After getting squeezed out of the Hornets' crowded wing rotation, Monk landed in L.A. for a minimum contract to try and build his value back up — a quizzical decision given the Lakers' perceived preseason depth.
Well, sure enough, after an up-and-down start, Monk is on fire over his past nine games, averaging 20.22 points. Monk's minutes have been consistent, and he's topped tonight's total of 16.5 seven times over that same sample.
Denver's molasses pace is about the only reason not to love this Over. Will Barton is a solid defender, but any minutes he doesn't mirror Monk will be automatic offense for this prop target.
Pick: Malik Monk Over 16.5 points (-108 at FanDuel)
Spur of the moment
Maybe it's 'cause he plays on San Antonio — who is objectively not a good basketball team for the first time this century — but Dejounte Murray's season has been wholly slept on.
Averaging 19/8/9 while leading the league in steals, Murray would be much more hyped if he weren't buried on an irrelevant team in a small market. But that might help explain why we're getting such good value on his points+rebounds+assits prop.
I love this market, and it's been hugely profitable for these picks when targeting multi-faceted players like Murray, who can fill it up in a number of areas and give this prop a more dynamic complexion. Off night shooting? He can dish assists. Teammates bricking open looks? We can hit the boards. You get the idea.
Murray faces a total of 37.5 tonight, which he's topped in five of six games this month while averaging 43.6 in the market, including 50+ in each of his past two games.
The Clippers are a strong defensive team, but they play at a neutral pace and no Derrick White means even more ballhandling duties and stat-padding for Murray. Fire away here.
Pick: Dejounte Murray Over 37.5 points+rebounds+assists (-115 at BetMGM)
