It’s set to be an emotional night in the NBA as both Los Angeles teams return to action after a tragic week in the city.

Those contests will grab the focus, but there are plenty of other storylines to explore in this six-game spread, and my NBA player props include a sharpshooting guard enjoying an expanded role.

Read on for my top three NBA picks for the January 13 slate.

NBA player props for January 13

Prop bet #1: Donte DiVincenzo Over 14.5 points

-110 at bet365

The Minnesota Timberwolves are searching for answers amid a troubling 20-18 start, and that’s led Chris Finch to experiment with Donte DiVincenzo in the starting line-up, with Mike Conley dropping to the bench.

The T’Wolves are 3-1 since that switch, and I see DiVincenzo continuing to provide a spark tonight.

He poured in 27 points last time out against the Memphis Grizzlies, including six triples, and he’s the type of willing, high-volume shooter that can make defenses pay for overhelping on Anthony Edwards.

A starting role also increases DiVincenzo’s chances of getting past the 30-minute mark, and Minnesota is going to ride with the precious spacing when the 3-ball is dropping. That should make his erratic point totals more stable.

The Over feels like an even more compelling pick given tonight’s opposition — the Washington Wizards, who are on the second night of a back-to-back set and allow a league-worst 122.7 ppg.

Washington was shredded by the Oklahoma City Thunder yesterday, and I see DiVincenzo feasting here.

Prop bet #2: Jalen Duren Over 9.5 rebounds

+100 at bet365

Karl-Anthony Towns has been a force on the glass this season, but he’s going to have his hands full in tonight’s battle with Jalen Duren.

And I’m picking Duren to go toe-to-toe with KAT on the way to this Over at slight plus odds.

Though Duren’s minutes and rebounds have dipped so far this season under JB Bickerstaff, this is the kind of physical contest where his work on the boards will be critical.

He’s finished with 10 or more rebounds in five of his last nine outings, including 12 boards against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.

His production has jumped this month too. He’s up to 10.6 rpg so far in January, and he brings more size than Isaiah Stewart to match up against Towns.

Duren has had some struggles against the New York Knicks this season, but I see him bouncing back with a high-energy effort against a Knicks team that played yesterday.

Prop bet #3: LeBron James Over 23.5 points

-115 at bet365

The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t played since a deflating loss to the Dallas Mavericks last Tuesday, so I expect a flying start from LeBron James and Co. tonight.

James has taken on a bigger share of the scoring for L.A. since the start of December. He dropped in 25.6 ppg last month, and he’s already delivered two games with 30 or more points in January.

At this stage in his career, it certainly helps when he’s dialed in from downtown, but he can still get to the basket consistently, and I see him being in attack mode here against the San Antonio Spurs, even with Victor Wembanyama lurking in the paint.

The Lakers have a real opportunity to push toward the Top 4 in the West, and LeBron’s scoring is going to be central to those efforts, especially after L.A. swapped offense for defense with the D’Angelo Russell for Dorian Finney-Smith trade.

James has shot 50% or better from the field in each of his past eight games, and I’m predicting another efficient stat line tonight as the Lakers return to action.
