Today’s best NBA player props

We get treated to a matchup of two of the better up-and-coming teams in the Eastern Conference as the Charlotte Hornets visit the Chicago Bulls.

The Hornets have won eight of their last 10 games but are coming off a disappointing defeat at the hands of the lowly Houston Rockets. The Bulls, meanwhile, have dropped three of their last four but are 5.5-point home favorites for this showdown.

The buzz around Charlotte this season is real, particularly on offense. The Hornets lead the NBA in scoring and 3-point shooting percentage but one thing they’ll need to do better if they hope to be a serious contender in the East is rebounding.

The Hornets rank 29th in the Association in rebounding percentage and dead last in opponent rebounds per game. That means they should have a tough time keeping a guy like Nikola Vucevic off the glass.

The Bulls center is averaging 11 rebounds per game this season, so it might be a little scary to see his rebounding total for this game set at 12.5. But Vucevic has done a great job of cleaning up the glass since returning from his bout with COVID, pulling down 13 boards in two of the three games since he’s been back.

Bet on Vucevic to bully Buzz City on the inside and go Over his rebounding total.

Pick: Nikola Vucevic Over 12.5 rebounds (+105 at DraftKings)

Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight and while the Mavs are 5.5-point home favorites, the Cavs should have a big edge on this inside for this matchup.

The Mavs have really struggled to defend the interior this season. Not only does Dallas rank 26th in rebounding percentage, but 23rd in opponent points in the paint. They have had a particularly tough time against opposing centers, allowing 25 points per game while ranking 27th in opponent field goal percentage to opposing big men.

That makes Jarret Allen’s point total of 13.5 for tonight’s matchup look ripe for the picking. The Cavaliers center is averaging 15.5 points per game and has looked great since returning from illness in the middle of November.

Allen has put up 20, 25, and 19 points, respectively over his last three games and has put up 16 or more points in seven of his last 10. The Over on his point total in this matchup looks as solid as they come.

Pick: Jarrett Allen Over 13.5 points (-115 at DraftKings)

It’s a matchup of one of the NBA’s worst offenses against one of its best defenses as the New Orleans Pelicans, who are still awaiting the return of Zion Williamson, visit the Los Angeles Clippers.

Without Williamson, opposing teams have been able to focus in on Brandon Ingram, the Pels' only real reliable scorer who can create his own shots. Ingram is averaging 21 points per game but is in a real slump right now.

The Pelicans’ small forward is shooting 36.9 percent from the field, including an abysmal 28.2 percent from 3-point range over his last nine games and has topped 20 points just three times over that span.

Now, Ingram faces a Clippers team that ranks second in the NBA in defensive rating and ninth in opponent 3-point field-goal percentage, allowing teams to shoot just 33.2 percent from beyond the arc. On top of that, in Ingram’s lone meeting against the Clippers this season, they limited him to just 17 points on 6-17 from the floor.

The Clippers are not the team you’re going to get right against, so we’re betting the Under on Ingram’s point total in this one.

Pick: Brandon Ingram Under 20.5 points (-105 at DraftKings)
