The 76ers’ lost season is nearly at an end, and the team will roll into Saturday’s home matchup riding a 10-game losing streak. The Timberwolves, however, are gearing up for a playoff run and will look to extend their current four-game win streak to earn a postseason berth and avoid the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

My Timberwolves vs. 76ers predictions expect Minnesota to win and cover a huge spread with some help from Rudy Gobert, who should have his way with an undersized Sixers frontcourt. Read my NBA picks to see which player props I’m backing and how to bet the spread.

Timberwolves vs 76ers prediction

My best bet: Rudy Gobert Over 25.5 points & rebounds (-105 at bet365)

My analysis
Rudy Gobert is averaging just 11.5 points and 10.7 rebounds, his lowest marks in nine seasons. Despite the dip in production, he’s had some big games, and he’s riding a heater heading into Saturday’s tilt with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Over the Minnesota Timberwolves last six games, Gobert has been a beast in the paint. He’s averaged 17.8 points and 15.8 boards, good for 33.6 points & rebounds. In that span, he posted at least 26 PR in each game. That includes a 34 PR average across his last three on the road.

Over the last 15 games, the Sixers have surrendered 14.3 rebounds to opposing centers and the most points per game to the position at 27.2. In that span, the Sixers have given up the second-most points overall (123.5), the fourth-most rebounds (46.9) and the third-most points in the paint (54.7).

With Joel Embiid done for the season and Andre Drummond still out, Philadelphia’s most likely starting frontcourt will be the 6’8 Guerschon Yabusele and the 6’9 Adem Bona. At 7’1, Gobert has a monster size advantage over both of them.

Minnesota’s starting center has looked rejuvenated following an extended layoff. He averaged just 21.4 PR before the All-Star break, but he’s averaged 26.1 across 12 games post break. In those 12 games, he’s posted 23.8 PR at home and a healthy 30.8 on the road.

Gobert is playing his best basketball of the season, and he gets a highly favorable draw with Philadelphia’s shorthanded and floundering defense. This is an easy Over selection.

Timberwolves vs 76ers same-game parlay

Rudy Gobert Over 25.5 points & rebounds

Timberwolves -15.5

Quentin Grimes Over 31.5 points, rebounds & assists

Minnesota is 21-17 ATS on the road and 8-8 as a double-digit favorite. Philadelphia is just 11-26-1 ATS at home and 4-11 as the double-digit underdog. Minnesota has won and covered in four straight, while the Sixers have dropped 10 in a row and only covered in one of them. This is a tremendous spread, but there is a wide gulf in talent disparity between these teams, and I expect the Wolves to capitalize.

Minnesota should win this one handily, but someone’s got to score and facilitate for the shorthanded Sixers. I’m picking Minnesota to win by at least 16, but that doesn’t mean Grimes can’t have a big showing. He’s hit the Over on this combo line in two straight and 10 of his last 12. In that 12-game span, he averaged a whopping 27.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
