The Blue Jays have a massive advantage in Game 2 when it comes to starting pitching, which is why Mike DiStefano's Blue Jays prediction is for them to be leading after five frames.

After bad weather postponed last night's matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees, we're treated to a good ole fashion doubleheader.

For Game 2, my Blue Jays prediction is all over the starting pitching duel and favors Chris Bassitt mightily over Yankees starter Clarke Schmidt, thus making the first five innings an appealing market for today’s best bet.

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Toronto strikes first

Blue Jays first five innings moneyline (+155 at BetVictor)

This is the makeup game from yesterday’s postponement.

The Toronto Blue Jays are still scheduled to trot out Chris Bassitt to pitch this afternoon, while the New York Yankees will answer with the righty Clarke Schmidt. It’s been a struggle for Schmidt early in the season so far, as he sports a 7.45 ERA.

Additionally, the Blue Jays have had a decent amount of success against Schmidt throughout his career, with Toronto’s current lineup sporting a .318 batting average against and an OPS north of .900.

So there should be a considerable amount of offense to be had for the birds, especially earlier in the game where Scmhidt’s effectiveness wanes after one turn through the order. Teams have a 1.287 OPS the second time through the order against Schmidt, with a pair of homers in just two starts this season.

Bassitt, on the other hand, is enjoying a nice start as he's 2-1 with a 1.88 ERA, and is yet to surrender a home run — which will come in handy facing this Yankees lineup. Furthermore, he’s only given up four runs through the first two trips through the order in his five starts.

It’s also a good matchup for Bassitt, as his pitch repertoire has forced many swings and misses, ranking 21st in the league in strikeouts, recording five or more in four of his five starts this season.

That should come in handy against a team that has the third-highest strikeout rate at 24%. Furthermore, the Yanks' lineup has struck out 25 times in just 75 career ABs against Bassitt (33% K-rate).

Additionally, considering Bassitt’s success against this N.Y. lineup and Schmidt struggling early in the season, I’m anticipating the Jays will put up more runs against Schmidt than the Yanks will on Bassitt and be leading by the end of the fifth inning.
