It is a shame that Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies don’t rock their throwback jerseys every time they meet. It would at least distract from the way the Raptors have been playing lately.

Toronto has lost seven of its last nine games and is now a 3-point road underdog against a Grizzlies team that has won three of its last four games behind some impressive performances from Ja Morant.

Can the Raptors slow Morant down and give us some value as dogs? Find out in our free NBA picks and predictions for Raptors vs. Grizzlies on November 24.

Raptors vs Grizzlies picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

It has pretty much been all downhill since the Raptors’ 6-3 start. Since then, they have dropped seven of their next nine games and a defense that was getting praised early on in the season has looked suspect of late.

Toronto rode its aggressive style of defense through the first part of the season. But since its Nov. 5 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Raptors have ranked dead last in defensive rating and opponent field goal percentage. Now, they have to deal with the Grizzlies and superstar Ja Morant, who is making an early case for MVP.

The Grizzlies’ point guard is averaging 25.5 points with a 52.5 effective field goal percentage while adding 7.0 assists, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. Behind Morant, the Grizz rank 10th in offensive rating and sixth in scoring offense.

It hasn’t helped that the Raptors have been missing their best player in OG Anunoby, who is not only their leading scorer, but their best defender as well and allows the team to make so many switches on that end of the floor.

Without him the Raptors have looked lost on defense and have been overcommitting to double teams at times, allowing opposing teams to move the ball and find players in the corners for open threes. That doesn’t bode well against a Grizzlies team that ranks 11th in assist percentage.

The Raptors still aren’t a good team in the halfcourt and without Anunoby it’s worse. Back Morant and the Grizz as short home faves in this one.

Prediction: Grizzlies -3 (-110)

It’s not surprising to see a total of 220 with the way these two teams play defense. We’ve already broken down the Raptors' issues on that end of the floor and it has resulted in them surrendering 111.4 points per game over their nine-game skid, ranking 26th in the NBA over that stretch.

But while the Raptors have struggled on defense, it’s not like the Grizzlies have been stout at that end of the floor. Far from it, in fact. The Grizzlies rank dead last in the NBA in both defensive rating and opponent points per game, allowing 114.9 per game.

So, even a team like the Raptors that struggles to find a rhythm on offense at times can fill up the bucket against the Grizzlies. Bet on this game to be back-and-forth and high scoring.

Prediction: Over 220 (-110)

Raptors shooting guard Gary Trent Jr. has tried to pick up the slack while his buddy OG has been sidelined.

Trent has jacked up 10 threes per game in the three games that Anunoby has missed and has been pretty effective doing so, nailing 43.3 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. He has now hit three or more threes in five of his last six games, including all three games Anunoby has missed.

Now, Trent goes up against a Grizzlies defense that really struggles with perimeter defense. Memphis allows the 18th most attempts from deep per game while allowing opponents to shoot 40.1 percent from long range. That is the worst opponent 3-point percentage in the NBA.

Bet on Trent to keep letting it fly in this juicy matchup.

Pick: Gary Trent Jr. Over 2.5 made threes (-125)
