The Raptors have covered the NBA betting spread in each of those seven games but now will have to try and cover a large number on the road for the second straight night. Is TO up to the task or will Houston have no problem as an underdog?

Raptors vs Rockets picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

Spread analysis

The Raptors come into this game red-hot, winners of seven in a row straight up and against the spread thanks to tenacious defense and an offense that is starting to catch up. Now, Fred VanVleet will get the night off but the Raptors should still be a problem for Houston.

For starters, while Pascal Siakam wasn’t named an All-Star, he’s been playing like one. Over 24 games since the middle of December, Siakam is averaging 23.5 points on 50.2% shooting while adding 9.6 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. And he has been a big reason why the Raptors rank ninth in the NBA in offensive rating since the calendar flipped over to 2022.

Another reason to still have faith in the Raps is the state of the Rockets. Houston’s defense is definitely a problem. The Rockets rank dead-last in the NBA when it comes to offensive rating and next-to-last in scoring defense. So, even without VanVleet, the Raps should be able to get by with Siakam and Co.

And it’s not like the Rockets’ offense is much better. They rank 27th in offensive rating, they don’t have much depth behind Christian Wood, and Eric Gordon is questionable.

Even without VanVleet, we’re leaning towards laying the points with the Raptors, who have been excellent at covering spread in back-to-back situations Rockets team whose last six losses have all come by double digits.

Prediction: Raptors -7 (-110)

Over/Under analysis

When it comes to the total, it’s quite a jump for the Raptors. In last night’s game against the Thunder, the total closed at a low 205.5. But that game comfortably cashed the Over by 9.5 points. And even though this number is much higher, it should be more of the same.

Even without VanVleet, the Raptors have four guys in their starting lineup who regularly get to double figures and they are actually starting to get some acceptable play from some bench players. So, Toronto should be able to do the heavy lifting here.

The Raps rank 10th in the NBA in offensive rating over their last nine games, putting up 117.2 points per game. Now, they face a Houston defense that, as previously mentioned, stinks. The Rockets are allowing 120.9 points per game over their last seven games.

And while the Rockets' offense is far from good, they still put up 108.1 points per game and are getting the Raps on a back-to-back. They should be able to do enough here to send this one Over.

Prediction: Over 223.5 (-110)

Best bet

With no VanVleet, that means Siakam will be the No. 1 option for Toronto tonight. So, let’s try and take advantage of that and take a spicy bet for Spicy P in the form of a same-game parlay.

As noted, Siakam has been killing it lately and doing it all for the Raps but the last four games have been ever better. He is averaging 27.3 points, with 12.3 rebounds and 6.0 assists. And with the Rockets expected to apply little resistance to Siakam in this one we’re going to take him to go Over 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists for a nice little payday.

Pick: Pascal Siakam SGP - Over 24.5 points, Over 8.5 rebounds, Over 4.5 assists (+260)
