The Suns have won seven of their last eight games and they’re 6-1-1 ATS in those contests. Phoenix is playing the final game of a five-game road trip tonight and the team is looking to end the trip without taking a single loss. Given how competitive this group is, these Suns players will be thinking about that. It helps that they’ll be fresh off two full days of rest and that the Mavericks played a hard-fought game last night. 

Dallas might be hot at the moment but this is going to be a really tough game for Luka Doncic & Co. to win. The Suns are the second-best defensive team in basketball this year, as their defensive rating is better than anybody but the Golden State Warriors this season. Look for Phoenix to put Mikal Bridges, one of the game’s best perimeter defenders, on Doncic in this one, while the rest of the Suns will be disciplined in getting out on shooters. That will make it hard on Dallas to get up good shots, which is something that has plagued the team on a nightly basis this year. 

Also, while the Suns will be missing Ayton when they play in this game, it’s not worth overthinking this one. Phoenix has gotten some great play out of guys like JaVale McGee, Bismack Biyombo and Jalen Smith in Ayton’s absence, and the Suns should be just fine at the center position.

The Mavericks are playing some incredible team defense coming into this game, but they’ll have tired legs when they face the Suns tonight. Phoenix is also averaging 128.0 points per game over the last two contests,with the Over hitting in both games. In fact, the Over is actually 9-6-1 in the last 16 games that the Suns have played, and a lot of that has to do with the way this team is playing offensively. Look for Chris Paul and Devin Booker to both come through for Over bettors tonight, as they’re both capable of going off in a game like this. 

It’s also worth mentioning that the Over is 33-17 when Phoenix is coming off a win by 10 or more points over the last two seasons. These two teams also went Over the total when they met on November 19.

Since the start of last season, the Suns are 27-13 ATS when the line is +3 to -3 and that record goes to 18-8 when they’re on the road with such a spread. This is a basketball team that is extremely comfortable in games that are supposed to be close, and Phoenix is also 29-15 ATS when coming off a road win over the last two years. 

Of course, there’s no denying that the Mavericks are playing some elite basketball on the defensive end right now. They did, however, play a game last night and are going to be a little tired. The Suns also have such a complex pick-and-roll game that they’ll find ways to make the Mavericks uncomfortable with their rotations. And Phoenix also happens to be the second-best defensive team in the league, so it will be tough on Dallas to find efficient ways to score.
