After dominating the Chicago Bulls on the road last night, the Brooklyn Nets now host the Oklahoma City Thunder. While this might look like an easy victory for the Nets on paper, the team will be without Kyrie Irving and the Thunder are a lot more competitive than people think.

Will Oklahoma City keep things close against Brooklyn? Continue reading our Nets vs. Thunder picks and predictions for the play on this one.

Thunder vs Nets picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

The Nets are coming off of a remarkable performance against the Bulls on Wednesday, as they earned a 136-112 victory in a game in which they were 1.5-point road underdogs. That ended up being a statement win for a Brooklyn team that badly needed to show that it was ready to beat one of the league’s elite teams. It is, however, fair to wonder whether or not that game will zap the Nets emotionally.

It’s not easy to get up for a game against one of the league’s worst teams after playing in one with a playoff atmosphere the night before. The Nets also have to do so after having played extremely late last night, and they’ll be without Kyrie Irving when they do it. That will put a lot of pressure on Kevin Durant and James Harden, who were both competing extremely hard last night.

The Thunder also happens to be a team that makes things tough on opponents on most nights. Not only is Oklahoma City 5-1 ATS in its last six games, but the team has also covered in 11 of its last 14 games. The Thunder will rely heavily on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey to create offense in this game, and both players make it really tough on opposing defenses to get comfortable. Giddey is especially impressive in that regard, as he’s one of the best passers in the league.

It’s also worth noting that the Thunder have the luxury of deploying Lu Dort on Harden in this one. Dort is one of the toughest perimeter defenders in the league and he has given Harden trouble in the past. His presence is a big part of the reason that the Thunder represent a good value tonight.

Prediction: Thunder +7.5 (-110)

The Nets just played a game in which 250 total points were scored. This game against the Thunder likely won’t be quite as high scoring as that one was, but the Over is 9-5 in the last 14 games that the Nets have played. It’s also 2-1 in the last three games that the Thunder have played, and Oklahoma City just so happens to be coming off a game against the Washington Wizards in which the two teams combined to score 240 points.

Both of these teams have talented guards and that generally is a good thing for Over bettors. These two teams have also gone Over the total in each of the last three games they’ve played against one another. On top of that, the Over is 11-5 when the Nets have played in games with totals between 210 and 219.5 this season.

Prediction: Over 218.5 (-110)

The Thunder are 12-7 ATS when playing as road underdogs this year, and they’re 5-1 ATS when getting anywhere between 6.5 and 12 points. Oklahoma City is also 8-3 ATS when facing Eastern Conference opponents, and the team is going to be confident that it can find a way to keep this one close tonight.

If Dort can keep Harden from coming up big in this game, that would go a long way for the Thunder. With Irving out, the Nets can’t afford to have Harden off his game here. Also, this is the type of game in which Gilgeous-Alexander generally tends to put on a show.

Pick: Thunder +7.5 (-110)
