The Los Angeles Lakers will be hoping to snap a three-game losing streak when they host the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday. And while the Blazers will still be without Damian Lillard, the Lakers won’t have LeBron James, either.

Trail Blazers vs Lakers picks and predictions
Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.
Spread analysis
Even without LeBron James in the lineup, Los Angeles has to feel good about its chances here. Damian Lillard has been out since the end of December and isn't coming back anytime soon, leaving Portland with a lack of legitimate star power. Meanwhile, the Lakers have a finally healthy Anthony Davis and the big man is going to need to turn in a dominant two-way performance tonight.
Russell Westbrook could end up being the key to this game for the Lakers. Without LeBron, Westbrook will be clear to handle the ball for a majority of the action. When given complete control of the offense, he is still capable of carrying a team while facilitating the scoring attack. Over the last three games without LeBron in the lineup, Westbrook is averaging 25 points, 6.7 assists, and 5 rebounds and he's coming off a game against the Hawks where he scored 20 while adding 12 dimes and seven boards.
Portland is just 3-11 against the spread when playing on the road against teams that average at least 23 assists per game this year. The team has lost those games by an average of 13.0 points, which is another reason that Westbrook’s passing and the Lakers’ ball movement could be even more important. And on the whole, the Blazers feature the third-worst defensive efficiency in the NBA and allow the fourth-most points per game.
Prediction: Lakers -3.5 (-110)
Over/Under analysis
As mentioned, the Over is 6-1 in the last seven games that Portland has played as a road underdog. With a meeting against a Los Angeles team that doesn’t play hard on the defensive end, you can expect that record to improve here. Sure, the Blazers are coming off a low-scoring game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the two games they played before that saw the Portland and its opponent combining to average 240.5 points.
The Lakers have played similarly high-scoring contests in their last two, as they combined to score 231 with the Hornets and then 250 with the Hawks.
It’s also worth noting that the Over hit with ease the last time these teams played, as the number was 227 and the Lakers earned a 139-106 win.
Prediction: Over 222 (-110)
Best bet
Robert Covington has made at least two threes in nine of his last 14 games, and there’s no reason he won’t be able to do it against the Lakers on Wednesday. Covington is averaging 1.7 threes made per game this season, and he’s averaged nearly two per game in each of his last eight seasons.
Considering this Lakers are just 17th in the league in defensive rating, he should be able to get some good shots off against them. Los Angeles is allowing the 12th-most made threes per game this season, and the team will only be worse defensively with LeBron out.
Pick: Robert Covington Over 1.5 made threes (-127)
