Warriors vs Jazz Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Who Can Stop Steph?

Coming off a stunning finish vs. Phoenix, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors travel to Utah as slight underdogs against the Jazz. Both offenses are putting in work, and we look at whether or not that has us veering toward a lot of points.

Don’t look now, but the Golden State Warriors have climbed to .500, and are back into the play-in picture.

After being powered by an unreal Stephen Curry heave to down the Phoenix Suns, the Dubs seek a fifth straight win when they visit the Utah Jazz tonight.

One of the teams they have passed in the standings is Utah, who is now in 11th, just a half-game back of the Warriors. Utah is pegged as a 1-point home favorite in the NBA odds.

It’s the first of what could be four biggies between these teams this year. Find out what bet I like best with my free Warriors vs Jazz NBA picks for Monday, February 12.

Warriors vs Jazz predictions

Even if we’ve seen him drill some spectacular shots, it never gets old seeing Stephen Curry uncork long-distance bombs, especially with the game on the line. Corralling an inbounds pass that Bradley Beal tried to pick off, Curry turned and drilled his ninth triple of the game from logo land, giving the Golden State Warriors a wild 113-112 win over the Suns on Saturday.

Offense continues to be the key to their success, as the Warriors currently sit sixth in the NBA in scoring at 119 points per game. With Curry as the centerpiece of their attack, Golden State hits at a 37.7% clip from 3-point range on nearly 40 attempts per game.

However, this current fun run has been aided by a series of strong defensive efforts, with the Dubs allowing just 105.6 points per contest. Not bad for a team that ranks 20th in scoring D, giving up 117.8 points per game on the season.

They head into the Delta Center to take on a Utah Jazz team that was flattened by the Suns 129-115 on Thursday — the same day Utah dealt Simone Fontecchio, Kelly Olynyk, and Ochai Agbaji.

That followed a pair of Utah’s best wins of the season, spanking the Milwaukee Bucks 123-108 before picking up a 124-117 win over the OKC Thunder.

Utah’s defense has been an issue all season, surrendering nearly 120 points per game, which ranks 24th in the NBA. Its defensive shooting splits are rough, allowing teams to shoot 48.1% from the field (20th), and 38.5% from distance (26th).

Solid offenses and porous defenses should lean towards taking the Over, but the books have lifted this number to a whopping 244 points.

The Over has hit in six of the last 10 games between these teams, but if you plug that high number into the equation, the Warriors and Jazz have combined to go Under the total in seven of 10. Golden State has also seen the Under hit in all four games during this win streak while topping its scoring line just once in the last seven.

I’m betting the Warriors defense travels to Utah in this biggie at the bottom of the West playoff picture.

My best bet: Under 243.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

Warriors vs Jazz same-game parlay

Under 244

Stephen Curry Under 29.5 points

Lauri Markkanen Under 8.5 rebounds

Despite averaging 31.7 points through six February games, Curry has only topped 32 points twice. Of course, it helps when you drop 42 against Indy and 60 against Atlanta. He’s been given a line of 29.5 in Utah — and it’s a place where he’s averaged just 22.7 points over the last three games, falling Under the total each time.

In Curry’s last eight games against the Jazz overall, Utah has kept basketball’s best shooter to 29 points or less five times.

There isn’t anyone who can fully stop Steph, but Collin Sexton, Keyonte George, and veteran Kris Dunn can do a good job hounding him.

To make this a three-legged parlay, I want to target the rebounding figures for all-star Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen. He leads the Jazz in scoring (23.7 points) and rebounding, pulling down 8.5 a game, the exact figure his line is set at against the Dubs.

The last time he played Golden State, Markkanen finished with 16 rebounds to go along with 21 points. That broke a streak where he had gone below 8.5 boards in 10 straight against the Warriors.

With defensive ace Draymond Green likely hounding him and the ultra-athletic Jonathan Kuminga also making life difficult, look for Markkanen to revert to his usual rebounding numbers in this series.

Warriors vs Jazz spread and Over/Under analysis

The spread has gone as low as a half-point while topping out at 1.5. Utah is one of the best cover teams in basketball, going 30-22-1 against the spread, tied for the third-best record in the league.

The Warriors are 25-23-2 ATS, though they’ve covered the spread in each of the last four games against the Jazz.

The 243.5 total has been pretty uniform throughout, though some sites have added an extra point to that.

Golden State has seen the Over go 28-22-0 in their games, while Utah has seen the Over cash in 30 of 53 contests.
