The Philadelphia 76ers will be riding a five-game winning streak when they host a Washington Wizards team that has lost six in a row. The Wizards have also failed to cover in each of those losses, and the team is without Bradley Beal for the next couple of games.

Spread analysis
The Wizards did well to stay somewhat competitive against the Milwaukee Bucks last night, but they were still unable to cover in the end. Now, Washington has to play another good team on the road, where the Wizards are 7-16-2 against the spread on the year.
Joel Embiid should be able to completely dominate this game for the Sixers on both ends of the floor. The Wizards don’t have anybody with the kind of size required to prevent Embiid from getting to the basket whenever he wants, and he’ll also shoot right over the top of smaller defenders. Then, if the Wizards overcompensate by sending help in Embiid’s direction, the center will pick them apart with his improved passing — he’s averaging a career-high 4.4 assists per game this year, while also averaging a career-low 3.0 turnovers per game.
The Sixers also have the means to stop some of the best Wizards players in this game. Philadelphia will have Tyrese Maxey, a definite two-way sparkplug, matched up on Spencer Dinwiddie for a majority of this contest. The team also has uber-stopper Matisse Thybulle and big bodies like Tobias Harris to throw on Kyle Kuzma, who is the top scoring threat for Washington right now.
Overall, this seems like a game that could get a bit out of hand. The Sixers are too talented and will find any of several ways to pull away, rather than let the Wizards linger around at a deficit of 10 or so points.
Prediction: Sixers -10 (-110)
Over/Under analysis
The Sixers are fifth in the league in defensive rating over the last 10 games, which has pushed their season ranking to 10th in the NBA. This team is really starting to lock in on that end of the floor, where Embiid is still one of the game’s best defensive centers and guys like Maxey and Thybulle are tone-setters with their effort guarding on the perimeter. With that in mind, this isn’t a great matchup for a Wizards team that is missing Beal right now.
The Sixers also play at the fifth-slowest pace in the league, which only makes the Under an even stronger bet. Meanwhile, the Wizards have been a good play on the Under on their own lately, as the Under is 6-1 in Washington’s last eight games following an SU loss. It’s also 4-1 in the team’s last five games overall.
Prediction: Under 217.5 (-110)
Best bet
With there being sites that are still offering this number at 217.5 or 217, it’s hard not to view the Under as the best bet on the board in this game. The Under is 30-20 in all of Philadelphia’s games this season, and it’s 11-6 when the team is playing as a home favorite.
Considering how well the Sixers are playing on the defensive end right now, it wouldn’t be surprising if this was really a struggle for the Wizards. Philadelphia could also be more focused than usual in this one, as Washington won when these teams met earlier in the year. The Under is 8-3 in the 11 games the Sixers have played following a road loss to that opponent in the previous head-to-head meeting.
The Under is also 10-3 when the Sixers are coming off a home win this season.
Pick: Under 217.5 (-110)
