Long. Lustrous. Flowing. Well-conditioned. When I’m college football betting, these are just a few of the adjectives that come to mind when I see the silky-smooth locks of Trevor Lawrence. Sure, most of us probably lather up some Pert Plus and get it over with, but I’m sure the Clemson quarterback’s haircare routine is something to behold.
Lawrence returns the lineup this week after sitting out the past two games because of COVID-19, which explains why the Tigers are heavy favorites on Saturday.
Let’s check out our best college football free picks and predictions for No. 4 Clemson at Florida State, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET in Tallahassee.
Clemson Tigers at Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview

It might be November, but you won’t know it on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium. Look for a high of 78 degrees with wind out of the east-northeast at 7 mph and only a 7 percent chance of showers. Be sure to monitor the gametime conditions with our NCAA football weather info.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick
Despite that disappointing 47-40 double-overtime loss to Notre Dame, Clemson remains squarely in the hunt for the college football playoff, and just in time, Lawrence is back. While D.J. Uiagalelei was impressive filling in, Lawrence takes the Tigers offense to a completely different level. He’s completed more than 70 percent of his passes this season while throwing 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions.
It’s hard to believe that Florida State’s program continues to struggle so mightily. The Seminoles have dropped three straight games, including a 38-22 loss to N.C. State last Saturday, and quarterback is a huge issue. Third-stringer Chubba Purdy got the start because Jordan Travis is banged up, and with James Blackman getting ready to transfer, the Seminoles don’t have many options at signal-caller. The Noles won’t get much help from their defense, either, as they give up 36.1 points per game.
Clemson needs to make a statement on Saturday, and with Lawrence back in the fold, it’s hard to believe that they won’t. The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings in Tallahassee, and Dabo Swinney has had two weeks to prepare.
PREDICTION: Clemson -34.5 (-110)
Over/Under Pick
The early money is on the Under and has already dropped the Total a couple of points. The Tigers generally light up everyone they play, but I’m not sure how the Seminoles are going to score—especially if they end up playing a third-string quarterback. The Under is 7-3 in Florida State’s last ten home games, and that’s where I’m putting my money.
PREDICTION: Under 66.5 (-110)
Team Total Pick
Even if Travis is healthy enough to play, the Seminoles offense is going to struggle against a Tigers defense that allows 19.5 points per game. This is a bad spot for a Florida State team that is going to run into an angry Clemson bunch, but at least they’ll get to gaze up at Lawrence’s golden mane like the rest of us.
PREDICTION: Florida State team total Under 16.5 (-130)
