The Tigers emboldened doubters last weekend. Will silencing those critics come at the Wolfpack’s expense?
Clemson’s 14-8 near-miss against lowly Georgia Tech a week ago opened the door for wonders if the Tigers might finally lose their grip on the ACC. If anyone is primed to rip the ACC Atlantic division away from Clemson, it should be the preseason darling Wolfpack.
Here are our free college football picks and predictions for Clemson at North Carolina State on Saturday, September 25, with kickoff set for 3:30 ET.

Odds via the Covers Line, an average comprised of odds from multiple sportsbooks.
The Tigers began the week as 12.5-point favorites, an odd number and one that was quickly dropped to 10 points. Occasionally, Wolfpack money would drop it another half point, but it has settled firmly at 10 as the weekend begins.
The total began the week at 47 or 47.5, depending on the book, and after spiking to 48 or 48.5 during the week, it has returned to 47.5.

Clemson vs NC State predictions
Clemson -10 (-110)
Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney said Georgia Tech lined up with “absolutely nothing that we prepared for” after last week’s lightning-paused close call. That may have been the rare head coach covering for his players after a tight game.
By no means did Clemson play well, but the oddity of a game delayed for hours by lightning may have impacted an offense already struggling to find its rhythm. In other words, the Tigers are not as bad as their most recent game.
They still held Georgia Tech to 298 total yards and 3 of 14 on third down, and offensively, Clemson may be on the verge of uncovering a new star in freshman running back Will Shipley, who took 21 carries for 88 yards and two scores last week.
The defense has never been the Tigers’ problem as long as they’re not facing Ohio State. That should keep North Carolina State in check just enough for Shipley to cover a spread seemingly knocked down by that most recent impression.
Under 47.5 (-110)
The Wolfpack has totaled 17 points in its last two games against Clemson. Given the Tigers defense is not yet a weakness, and given that it knows it needs to protect an offense still finding itself, North Carolina State should struggle to score again.
With Clemson defensive coordinator Brett Venables dialed in, the Wolfpack may not top 17 points, and asking this Tigers offense to cruise past 30 feels ambitious when it managed just 49 against FCS-level South Carolina State.
