Against the Spread (ATS) Pick
These teams finished atop the MAC East a year ago and both seem poised to battle for that title once again, which makes this line a bit of a head-scratcher.
Miami quarterback Brett Gabbert's status is up in the air after a head injury knocked him out of the last game after just eight passes. However, backup AJ Mayer played well in relief, completing 16 of 24 passes for 214 yards and three scores.
While the Redhawks' dynamic running back duo of Tyre Shelton and Jaylon Bester are also out with injuries, backup Davion Johnson should be able to get the job done thanks to an offensive line that's arguably the best in the conference.
The Bulls may have beaten NIU by 19 points last week, but their defense played a huge role in their 49-point outburst, scoring touchdowns on two fumble returns and one interception return. Don't expect the Redhawks to be so sloppy with the ball and take them and the points.
PREDICTION: Miami (Ohio) +11 (-110)
Over/Under Pick
The Bulls offense looks ready to roll in 2020. Running back Jaret Patterson is a monster who rushed for 1626 yards last year and rumbled for 137 versus Northern Illinois last week. He wasn't the only Buffalo RB to surpass 1000 rushing yards a year ago, with backup Kevin Marks Jr. also eclipsing that plateau.
Perhaps most importantly for Buffalo's offense, they have a more efficient passing game thanks to returning quarterback Kyle Vantrease, who improved as a starter throughout 2019.
That said, despite how well Buffalo's defense was expected to play this year, they gave up 397 yards and 30 points to an NIU squad with a lot of question marks on offense. Then again, Miami surrendered 478 yards and 31 points to Ball State in their season opener.
With Buffalo going 6-1 to the Over in their last seven games, and the Over also cashing in six of the last seven meetings between these conference foes, take it again on Tuesday night.
PREDICTION: Over 56.5 (-110)
Team Total Prop
We're well aware of the injuries to Gabbert, Shelton and Bester but the strength of the Redhawks is their offensive line, which remains intact. Anchored by preseason first-team All-MAC selections Danny Godlevske and Tommy Doyle, this unit can open holes for any runner and should protect Mayer from a ferocious Buffalo pass rush.
With the Redhawks team total likely to be installed at around 22.5, a number they have surpassed in seven of their last eight MAC games, back them to go Over.
PREDICTION: Miami (Ohio) team total - Over 22.5 (-110)
