The only blemish on the Miami Hurricanes’ record this college football season is a loss to the Clemson Tigers, and if the U wants a shot at revenge, they can’t afford a slip up against North Carolina State this weekend.

The Hurricanes are 10-point road favorites for this ACC clash against what has been an inconsistent Wolfpack team. Miami is 3-1 ATS when laying double digits this season, can they do it again vs NC State?

Let’s take a look at our best college football predictions for Miami at North Carolina State, with kickoff scheduled for Friday, November 6 at 7:30 ET.

Against the spread (ATS) pick

Miami responded to its loss to Clemson by taking out a tough Pitt team 31-19, squeaking out a cover as 11.5-point favorites. They followed that up with a hard-fought 19-14 win over Virginia as 13.5-point home chalk.

The U offense didn’t have trouble moving the ball against the Cavaliers totaling 444 yards, including 322 yards passing from QB D’Eriq King. The Houston transfer leads a balance Miami attack that averages 243.7 yards passing and 169.5 yards on the ground.

King has thrown 1,398 yards with 11 touchdowns and four picks while adding another 301 yards and two scores on the ground. While star back Cam’Ron Harris has rumbled for 346 yards at a clip of 5.2 yards per carry. That might not bode well for a North Carolina State squad that is giving up 182 yards per game on the ground this season.

Speaking of the Wolfpack, they had won three in a row (two as underdogs), before falling to rival North Carolina 48-21, failing to cover as a 14.5-point underdog.

NC State has had to turn to Bailey Hockman at QB after Devin Leary went down with a knee injury. Hockman is completing 58 percent of his passes for 531 yards with three TDs and four picks. But they must go up against a Miami D that has given up fewer than 20 points in three of their last four games.

Both teams are coming off a bye, but in the end, Miami will have too many weapons, and its defense will make things tough on an inexperienced QB. Take the U to cover on the road.

PREDICTION: Miami -10 (-110)

Over/Under pick

While Miami scored just two touchdowns in beating Virginia 19-14, they left a lot of scoring opportunities on the table, as evidenced by their 444 total yards. Outside of that game and the beatdown handed to them by Clemson, the U have averaged 40.3 points per contest and now face an NC State defense that is allowing 34.2 points per game.

If Miami can get its run game back on track it should be able to do its part in this one. North Carolina State can put up 20 points or so, and it will get a chance to against a Miami team that gave up 185 rushing yards to Virginia two weeks ago. This one sneaks Over.

PREDICTION: Over 58.5 (-110)

First-Half Spread Pick

Miami has done a good job of building up a lead by halftime in its wins this season. The 'Canes have held the lead at half in all five of their wins, going into the break with an average margin of 13.4 points. At 5.5-points, the U is a good bet to cover the first-half spread.

PREDICTION: Miami -5.5 First Half Spread (-117)
