One of the great things about college football betting is appreciating the pageantry of the sport—and even some of the game’s underappreciated rivalries. Such is the case in the Bedlam series between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. It’s not the best moniker for two in-state teams that do battle every season, but the game generally provides plenty of fireworks.

This time, the roles are reversed, with the Cowboys just a half-game back of the Big 12 lead and the Sooners playing catch-up, though once again, Oklahoma State is the underdog.

Let’s check out our best college football free picks and predictions for No. 14 Oklahoma State at No. 17 Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 7:30 ET in Norman.

Against the Spread (ATS) Pick

The Cowboys haven’t been winning pretty, but they have been winning. Two weeks ago, Oklahoma State gutted out a 20-18 victory over a pesky Kansas State bunch and they used their potent running game to do it. Chuba Hubbard gets the headlines, but it was L.D. Brown doing the heavy lifting against the Wildcats, going for 110 yards on only 15 carries. The Pokes will need more of the same against Oklahoma, plus some big plays from quarterback Spencer Sanders.

The last time we saw the Sooners, they were adding to the continued torture that is Kansas football, donkey-stomping the Jayhawks 62-9. It was the second straight week that Oklahoma put 62 points on the board – Texas Tech was the previous victim – so the Sooners clearly have found their rhythm on offense. Freshman Spencer Rattler has thrown for 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season and will be the next great Sooners quarterback once he gets more experience.

This line opened with Oklahoma laying 9.5 points, but that didn’t last long, with bettors immediately hitting Oklahoma State. I liked that play as well, but now I like the value with the Sooners, who are 5-0 in their last five at home and should be able to cover the smaller spread.

PREDICTION: Oklahoma -7 (-110)

Over/Under Pick

While the Sooners can put up points as well as almost any offense in the country, their defense is susceptible to the big play, and the Cowboys should get their fair share of chances to score. The Over has hit in five of Oklahoma’s last six games, and that’s the side I’m playing.

PREDICTION: Over 59 (-110)

Team Total Pick

Did I mention this is a rivalry game? On paper, sure, but Oklahoma has won 18 of the last 19 games straight up and I just don’t think the Cowboys will be able to keep up with a Sooners passing offense that ranks ninth in the country.

PREDICTION: Oklahoma team total Over 34.5 (-120)
