Through the six games before the bye, Dak Prescott threw a pick in three of them. He’s getting picked more regularly than last season when his 11 picks came across eight of his 18 games.
The concerning thing is not only is Prescott throwing an INT in 50% of his games, but he’s thrown two in each. That now puts him at six in just six games, making him a risk against any team.
The only team Prescott has faced with a better defensive DVOA rating than the 49ers was the Lions in Week 6. This is a strong Niners’ defense, and unlike their offense, they aren’t quite as decimated by injuries
Only four teams have more interceptions than the 49ers so far, which puts Sunday’s opposition near the top of the tree in takeaways. Through seven games, the 49ers have averaged more than one INT per game with eight.
The data tells us their defense is above average in terms of making picks, while Dak is giving up an INT per game on average. This only ends one way.

We need to consider gamescript. Given it’s a tough game on the road, Dallas might be chasing this one. Then there’s the Cowboys’ ground game which is absolutely terrible and can’t be relied upon to get this offense moving the chains. Prescott has also thrown for Over 243.5 passing yards in 50% of his games but is averaging 267 yards per game.
Ceedee Lamb has only scored twice this season, but he’ll regress to the norm soon. He’s averaging 9.1 targets per game and is leading his team in red zone targets with six. He’s an elite player and one of the best pass catchers in the NFL, and he should be able to get back to scoring ways here.
