Derrick Henry TNF prop pick
Over 72.5 rushing yards (-110)
As the trade deadline loomed it seemed that the Tennesse Titans might cash in on their star running back Derrick Henry, especially with rookie Tyjae Spears shining at points before the bye.
The deadline came and went and King Henry remained a Titan. The team is three wins behind the Jaguars in the AFC South and will still believe they have a shot at making the playoffs, especially after an impressive win with rookie quarterback Well Levis under center this past Sunday.
With the team looking improved and with Henry staying, we look forward to Thursday Night Football and a game that looks absolutely set up for a big performance from the star running back.
We’re used to seeing Henry as a bell-cow but he’s only had 20+ carries on three occasions this year. Fortunately for us, two of those came in the team’s past four games, including this past weekend’s win over the Falcons.
Now that we know the team won’t be moving on from Henry in the short term, I’d expect them to lean on him heavily, perhaps giving Spears less work. It’s no surprise that the most recent game saw the second-highest amount of carries for Henry, the second-highest rushing yardage total, and also the most receptions of the season so far.
The Titans don’t need to worry about shopping the 29-year-old now and can ride him, which sets us up really well against a Steelers defense that simply cannot stop the run. Despite having some star-name defensive players, this unit isn’t great on the ground and only five teams have given up more rushing yards per game on average than the Steelers.
We’ve seen an average of 137.1 rushing yards per game against them, which should give us an indication that Henry — fresh off a big week — should be able to take advantage of a relatively low rushing total of 72.5.
He’s exceeded that number in three of his past four games and against this unit, I expect him to do so again.

Henry has only scored three touchdowns all season and while we're still tracking behind the 11 and 13 he’s scored the past two seasons, I expect him to get back into the endzone this week.
As mentioned above, I’m expecting the Titans to lean on him which should mean plenty of carries in the red zone, and they might have multiple chances in that area of the field if Will Levis' performance from Sunday is anything to go by. The Steelers defense is also allowing a touchdown per game to opposing running backs.
Finally, we’re going to finish off this Derrick Henry SGP by taking the Under on fellow running back Tyjae Spear’s receiving yards total. Last week, we saw Henry have four receptions — a season-high — on four targets.
That was the second week in a row in which Henry had more receptions than Spears and he's also stayed Under this mark in four of seven games this year. For now, I think he’s a change of pace back and if Henry is having a game as big as I expect, then I think we’ll see fairly little of his running mate.
