NFL First Touchdown Props Week 4: Harrison Stays Hot

Sam Farley's first TD picks for NFL Week 4 are targeting a pair of receivers, one of whom has been reliable in the red zone and another who's simply tearing up the opposition. Plus, a running QB could be the best bet of all to break the plane.

The NFL season continues at pace with every Sunday coming sooner than the last.

With three weeks under our belt already, we have some reliable data to go on when sizing up the Week 4 touchdown props.

I’ll take what I’ve learned so far this season and apply it to my NFL picks as I list my three favorite first touchdown scorers for Sunday’s slate.

Best Week 4 first TD picks

First TD prop bet #1: Jalen Hurts

Best odds: +750 at FanDuel

The Philadelphia Eagles have looked good through the first three weeks of the season with the arrival of Saquon Barkley adding another dimension to their offense. He’s a clear upgrade over D’Andre Swift, whom the team had as RB1 last year.

It’s been noticeable that we’ve not seen as much of Jalen Hurts in the endzone either. He’s scored just one rushing touchdown so far but at this stage in each of the previous two seasons he’s already had three.

However, this game looks like an opportunity for Hurts to get himself back into the end zone with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers already giving up three rushing TDs to quarterbacks. Week 1 saw Jayden Daniels score twice, and we witnessed Bo Nix get in on the act last week.

First TD prop bet #2: Marvin Harrison Jr.

Best odds: +800 at BetMGM

Last season, the thought of the Washington Commanders facing the Arizona Cardinals wouldn’t have set pulses racing. But it’s one of the most interesting games on Sunday’s slate with two fun quarterbacks who love to entertain.

Through the opening three weeks we’ve seen the Commanders give up nine receiving touchdowns to wide receivers, an average of three per game, which shows their weakness at stopping the pass.

To put it into context, that’s 50% more than the next worst team, the Rams. Only the Ravens have allowed more passing yards than the Commanders, making this a game primed for a Marvin Harrison Jr. masterclass.

The rookie is a big price to score the opening touchdown but with three TDs in his past two games, he shouldn’t be.

First TD prop bet #3: Diontae Johnson

Best odds: +1,200 at DraftKings

My final and longest odds selection to open the scoring in his game this week is Carolina Panthers WR Diontae Johnson, a player who looked reborn last week with Andy Dalton under center. The numbers don’t lie and Dalton is certainty a boost for Johnson, who has two more targets in one game with Dalton than two with Bryce Young.

He’s been limited in practice this week but is expecting to play and will fancy his chances of scoring in back-to-back games. No player has more targets inside the 20 than Johnson, and he has seen 70% of passing attempts in the red zone go his way.

He’s a big value price to open the scoring against a Cincinnati Bengals team that is really struggling.
