The New York Giants and Tennessee Titans are on opposite ends of many projections from sharp bettors heading into the 2022 NFL season.
The overhaul in the head office and the hiring of Brian Daboll as head coach had stock in New York on the rise this offseason, while Tennessee is pegged for regression after earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC last year.
However, the G-Men’s improvements could be stunted by a slow transition to this new playbook and injuries once again plaguing this team, after finishing 2021 as one of the most injured rosters in the NFL.
This has the spread for this non-conference opener bobbing around a dead number of -5.5 with bettors now gun shy on New York but not exactly trusting Tennessee.
I run down the spread and total for this Week 1 matchup and give my best NFL picks and predictions for Giants at Titans.

Giants vs Titans picks and predictions
There’s a vacuum in the Titans' passing game, with the departure of A.J. Brown and plenty of new faces in the receiver’s room. Tennessee tried to fill that void by drafting Treylon Burks out of Arkansas with the No. 18 pick.
Burks at least fills out Brown’s jersey, coming in at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, but had a rough start to training camp. He was sidelined due to asthma in May and his conditioning came under question in minicamp. That doesn’t help his perception in the Week 1 betting markets. His receiving yard prop is sitting at a modest 25.5 yards for a WR coming in No. 2 on the depth chart behind veteran Robert Woods.
But beyond that bad press, he showed resilience and played better than the boxscore in the preseason, running some great routes but getting totally ignored by fellow rookie Malik Willis. The two did hook up in the exhibition finale with Burks making three grabs for 33 yards and a touchdown.
Now, Burks has No. 1 QB Ryan Tannehill under center and that great separation he was creating in the preseason reps won’t go unnoticed.
New York’s defense is undergoing a makeover with a brand-new coordinator in Wink Martindale, who loves to bring blitz and play man-to-man coverage. The Giants' secondary, however, is very thin and was scrambling for bodies on the waiver wire last week. Rodarius Williams is still out and rookie safety Dane Belton is a question mark for Week 1.
Tennessee's play-action playbook will lean on Derrick Henry and the ground game to suck the G-Men into the box, which then opens the door for big hits over the top off misdirection. Burks can run a beautiful deep route and may top this modest receiving total in one strike.
My best bet: Treylon Burks Over 25.5 receiving yards (-115 at Unibet)
