Jared Goff Picks, Predictions, and Best Bets for Monday Night Football

If the Seahawks can keep generating pressure like they have to start the season, Jared Goff might be in for a tough night — one that includes mistakes and turnovers.

Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions bounced back last week with a win, improving to 2-1 in the process. This week, they'll host the Seattle Seahawks, who have quietly been one of the league's best defenses.

We break down how that defense will impact the Jared Goff odds in our NFL picks and Seahawks vs. Lions predictions below.

My analysis
Jared Goff has thrown for fewer than 220 passing yards twice this season, and his lone good box score result was in a losing effort that saw him throw the ball 55 times. He failed to hit the former just three times across his 17 starts last year.

On top of muted production, he's also been a bit careless with the football. He's thrown four interceptions and at least one in each game this season after throwing a pick in fewer than half his games a year ago.

And now he gets matched up with a Seattle Seahawks defense that features a stud cornerback duo in Tariq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon, as well as facing a front seven that had three players in the Top 6 for pressures generated through Week 3.

Granted, two of those three are out this week, with Boye Mafe (11 pressures) and Leonard Williams (10) out this week after sustaining injuries last week.

However, former Ravens defensive coordinator and new Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald has notably always been able to elevate and squeeze the most out of his depth players, of which Seattle has a good amount of quality names to lean on for Monday.

Jared Goff MNF same-game parlay

Jared Goff Under 240.5 passing yards

Jameson Williams Under 3.5 receptions

Amon-Ra St. Brown Under 7.5 receptions

We should expect the Seahawks front seven to still be able to get to Goff and generate pressure, and he's been one of the league's worst quarterbacks when facing that trouble. He came into the season ranking third-worst in catchable throw rate when facing pressure at 51.9%.

And Tariq Woolen headed into this week with the best mark in passer rating allowed and second-best in yards allowed per snap among qualified quarterbacks. He and Witherspoon held Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to just seven combined catches for 66 yards and zero touchdowns last week.

That could bode poorly for the likes of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, especially if Goff is throwing those aforementioned uncatchable balls at a high rate.
