Jets vs Cardinals Predictions, Picks, and Best Bets: Jet Setting

Coming off a win on Thursday Night Football vs. the Texans, the New York Jets hope a trip to the desert doesn't ground their late-season push toward a wild-card spot. Lucky for them, Kenny Ducey believes the Jets pick up the win.

The New York Jets snapped a run of five consecutive losses when they took out the Houston Texans a week ago, and now their run to salvage a season with great expectations will continue on Sunday as they travel west to take on the Arizona Cardinals.

My Jets vs. Cardinals predictions believe the Jets can muster up enough on both sides of the ball to pick up their fourth win of the season.

Find out more in my NFL picks for Sunday, November 10 with kick-off set for 4:25 p.m. ET, live on CBS.

My analysis
The New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals have had their fair share of ups and downs defensively, but they sit 17th and 18th in DVOA, respectively. New York’s been stronger against the pass, while Arizona’s been solid against the run, creating quite the juxtaposition here.

The Jets have been heavy on the pass, which should pose a serious issue for Arizona. Opponents have thrown the ball on them over 46% of the time and are hitting on 7.4 yards per pass — two figures that are in or just outside the bottom five of the league.

In addition, Dennis Gardeck — arguably the best edge defender on the team—tore his ACL two weeks ago, adding to a couple of other important injuries on defense.

The Jets may not be without CJ Mosley, but the Cardinals will look to run behind an offensive line ravaged by injury. Because of that, the Cardinals produced just 3.2 yards per carry on the ground in last week’s game.

I know it’s trendy these days to fade the Jets and carry an overall distrust in them, but there is trouble brewing for a Cardinals offense that has only survived by throwing the ball. Sauce Gardner may have taken a slight step back from where he was last year, but there’s plenty of talent around him.

If not for a porous run defense, New York would be pushing toward the top of the league — and it’s hard to see the Cardinals moving the ball very well with Conner struggling to find room behind this makeshift line.

The Jets did well to stifle C.J. Stroud last Thursday, and Kyler Murray should be the next to fall in line as New York cruises to another important victory.

Jets vs Cardinals same-game parlay

Jets moneyline

Aaron Rodgers 2+ passing TDs

Garrett Wilson 75+ receiving yards

Aaron Rodgers has now thrown for two or more touchdowns in all but three games this season. One was his very first game back from injury in Week 1, one was in a downpour where passing was nearly impossible, and one was against the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers secondary.

New York has shown a clear preference to pass as the season has developed, now ranking fifth in pass play rate, and that has been especially true around the goal line where the likes of Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams have become important components.

I believe this trend should continue for an offense that has quickly rounded into form, and Wilson should be one of the main beneficiaries here. The Cardinals rank dead last in DVOA against the WR3 position, and below average against WR2s. That should mean Wilson is poised to hit 75 yards for the fourth time in five games.
