Avalanche vs Kraken Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight's NHL Game

When a team needs a spark it often looks to it's best players and for the Colorado Avalanche, Cale Makar fits the bill. During the team's mini two-game win streak, Makar has notched four points, and Tony Satori believes there's too much value to pass up on him here tonight.

The Seattle Kraken hosts the Colorado Avalanche in this Western Conference tilt on Tuesday evening at Climate Pledge Arena. NHL odds have Colorado as a -120 favorite, while the total sits at 6.5.

My Avalanche vs. Kraken prediction is targeting a player prop for Cale Makar.

Read on for my NHL picks for Tuesday, October 22.

Avalanche vs Kraken prediction

My best bet
Cale Makar to score (+375 at bet365)

My analysis

After a tough start to the campaign, the Colorado Avalanche have fired off two consecutive wins. The offense has come alive with four goals scored in each of those two outings, and superstar defenseman Cale Makar has been a big part of the equation.

He has potted a goal while adding three assists over that stretch, and at +375, it’s worth taking a shot on Makar to find the back of the net once again. With the injury to Devon Toews, defenseman Samuel Girard has stepped into the first-pairing role alongside Makar.

These two have been incredible when paired together, ranking sixth among the 81 defensive pairings that have played at least 35 minutes together in xGF/60.

Makar also serves as the quarterback on the first powerplay unit. His first goal of the season came on special teams, which could strike once again in this matchup against a Seattle Kraken team that ranks in the bottom half of the league in both penalty minutes taken per game and penalty kill percentage.

Subsequently, Makar has scored four goals across his eight career meetings against Seattle.

Avalanche vs Kraken same-game parlay (SGP)

Ross Colton to score

Avalanche moneyline

Another Colorado skater to target is forward Ross Colton, who has gone nuclear since joining Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen on the first line (and first powerplay unit). Colton has scored five goals over the past three games, and this success is likely to continue against goaltender Philipp Grubauer, the former Avalanche netminder who is slated to guard the cage for Seattle.

Grubauer is 1-2 on the campaign with a .877 SV% and ranks 26th among the 39 goaltenders to have played at least three games in GSAx/60. Finally, if we are backing two different Avalanche skaters to find the back of the net, then a correlated outcome would be for Colorado to also win the game.
