The Montreal Canadiens will be looking to halt a five-game slide when they visit the Florida Panthers this afternoon.

These teams last met on March 15 in a game that featured very few shots on goal for both sides. My Canadiens vs. Panthers predictions and NHL picks for Sunday, March 30 expect this game to be much more wide-open, with Nick Suzuki leading the charge.

Canadiens vs Panthers prediction

My Canadiens pick: Nick Suzuki Over 1.5 shots (-170 at BET99)

My Canadiens analysis
The Montreal Canadiens managed only 15 shots on goal when they beat the Florida Panthers on March 15, 3-1, with the Cats coming back with only 22 shots of their own. Both marks fell well below the seasonal averages for both sides.

I expect both coaching staffs to emphasize getting rubber on net in the rematch, drawing closer to the 34-25 shot total from this season's earlier clash on December 28. As a result, Nick Suzuki — pacing the Habs in ice time among forwards this month (21:46) — should eclipse this low shots on goal bar.

Suzuki was held to just one shot by the Hurricanes when last seen, but Carolina is well-known for winning the time of possession battle. Suzuki had three shots on goal in each of his five games before that contest, and has tallied multiple shots on goal in nine of his 13 games played in March.

The Canadiens captain has hit this Over in 48 of 72 games in 2024-25, exactly two-thirds of the time. We're getting an edge in terms of implied probability of just over 3% here.

Canadiens vs Panthers same-game parlay (SGP)

Nick Suzuki Over 1.5 shots

Cole Caufield Over 2.5 shots

Over 5.5

I'm also expecting Cole Caufield to test the mettle of Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky today. He's cashed Over 2.5 SOG in eight of 13 games played in March.

Finally, I'll throw in Over 5.5. Montreal has averaged 3.3 goals per game since getting blanked by the Flames on March 8, while Florida is a solid 12th in goals per game this year at 3.12.
