Jets vs Lightning Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today's NHL Game

The Winnipeg Jets have been the best team in the NHL through 11 games, and Tony Satori believes a game vs. Tampa won't slow them down. Given their propensity to win games by multiple goals, backing them to do so today at a juicy price is too good to pass up.

The Winnipeg Jets host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday at the Canada Life Centre and the NHL odds have Winnipeg as a -130 favorite.

After dropping their first game last Monday, the Jets bounced back in a big way, netting six in each of their last two games, and my Lightning vs. Jets predictions believe the offense will reign supreme once again.

Read on for my NHL picks for Sunday, November 3.

Jets vs Lightning prediction

My Jets pick
Jets -1.5 (+190 at Pinnacle)

My Jets analysis

The Winnipeg Jets possess the best record in the NHL, and for good reason. This team is effective in all three zones, ranking first in goals scored per game and fourth in goals allowed per game.

The odds in this game are close because the Tampa Bay Lightning are a good team as well, ranking eighth in each of those two aforementioned categories.

Let’s start with the offensive battle, which is likely a wash. Winnipeg outranks Tampa by 0.91 goals scored per game, while the Bolts have generated .09 more expected goals per 60 minutes.

While offensive production is a wash (at worst), the defense and goaltending edge clearly goes to the Jets. Winnipeg ranks higher in xGA/60, goals allowed per game, penalty minutes taken per game, and penalty kill percentage.

Subsequently, the Jets are seventh in expected goal differential per 60 minutes, while Tampa is 20th in the same category. You also have to give the goaltending edge to Connor Hellebuyck against Andrei Vasilevskiy, considering that the reigning Vezina Trophy winner possesses a better SV% and GAA.

When you add in home-ice advantage, I don’t think that the Jets are large enough favorites in this matchup. I believe there is even more value in their puck line at +190, given that each of their past three wins has come by two or more goals, a trend that also reigns true for each of Tampa’s past three losses.

Jets vs Lightning Over/Under analysis

The Winnipeg Jets own the best record in the NHL and are rightful favorites in this contest vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning. They opened up as -130 favorites and are holding steady at that price.

With these two teams being two of the higher-scoring teams across the NHL, this total sits at 6 and is far more likely to move to 6.5 than in the opposite direction.
