My Jets analysis

The Winnipeg Jets have only lost two games all season, with the second occuring just two days ago against the Tampa Bay Lightning. I do not think this team will go 0-2 in their Florida trip, especially considering that Winnipeg is better than the Florida Panthers across the board.

Let’s start with the defense and goaltending, which are the two biggest gaps between these two teams. Winnipeg prevents high-danger scoring chances at an elite level, surrendering just 2.64 xGA/60, the third-best mark in the league.

This defensive play just makes the job of reigning Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck that much easier. He’s 12-1 through 13 starts with a .934 SV% and 1.92 GAA.

Meanwhile, Sergei Bobrovsky is slated to start across the ice. Through 12 starts, Florida’s netminder possesses a .889 SV% and 3.14 GAA.

In his defense, no pun intended, the Panthers rank 24th in xGA/60.

That just leaves the offense, which is yet another advantage for the Jets as they rank first in goals scored per game and 10th in xGF/60. Florida ranks seventh and 17th, respectively, in those two categories.

The only advantage for the Panthers is home ice, but Winnipeg is 7-1 on the road while Florida is barely over .500 when playing at Amerant Bank Arena.

Jets vs Panthers Over/Under analysis

Winnipeg isn’t going to maintain an 88.2% win percentage throughout the rest of the campaign, obviously. Books are expecting regression to come to fruition, which is why Florida opened up as a -141 favorite and is holding steady at that price.

Both teams rank in the top seven in goals scored per game, and, subsequently, this total sits at 6 and is more likely to move to 6.5 rather than in the opposite direction.
