The San Jose Sharks finally got their first win of the season last night, and now they turn around to host the Los Angeles Kings on a back-to-back at SAP Center — with puck drop at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Mikael Granlund has been leading the way for the anemic offense in San Jose, and my Kings vs. Sharks predictions expect him to fire away tonight.

My best bet

My analysis
Mikael Granlund has put up impressive numbers in the first 10 games of the season. He has five goals and eight assists for 13 points with 36 shots on goal. While those point numbers won’t stay above a point-per-game pace for long, those shots-on-goal numbers have the potential to.
Granlund has been held without a shot in just one game and has had less than three in one other. Coincidentally, those games came in succession on October 18 and 20.
Outside of that, Granlund has had exactly three shots in two games, four shots twice, five shots three times, and hit a season-high of six in his first meeting against the Los Angeles Kings.
The veteran center tends to take a lot of shot attempts and is able to hit the net on them. He’s had at least five shot attempts in four straight games, including seven, six, and seven in the last three contests.
Granlund plays on the top line and top power-play unit for the San Jose Sharks. He’s averaging nearly 22 minutes per game, and that number won’t come down anytime soon.
The veteran has shown he’ll put shots up against the Kings, and I’ll happily take the +132 odds here with the possibility of a ladder given his numbers thus far.

Granlund is firing the puck on net and is currently riding a seven-game point streak, including three in Monday night’s comeback win. The Sharks are going to be exhausted, which makes the Kings huge favorites in this one.
