With the Toronto Maple Leafs facing off against the New York Islanders, Mitch Marner's power play prop market is the convincing bet to pay attention to in this matchup.

We’ve got 13 games on the betting slate tonight, including an Eastern Conference clash between the New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotia Bank Arena.

With the league’s worst penalty kill coming to town, Toronto’s power play prop market is very enticing tonight in our Maple Leafs vs. Islanders predictions.

Find out why in my free NHL picks for this Tuesday, December 31 matchup.

Mitch Marner Over 0.5 power play points (+210 at Sports Interaction)

My Leafs analysis

The Toronto Maple Leafs look to get back in the win column tonight when they take on the lowly New York Islanders

The Isles are coming off a loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins over the weekend, where the team went 0/2 on the penalty kill. It was the eighth time in the last 10 games that the Islanders had surrendered at least one goal to the opposition's power play.

The Islanders PK is dead last in the league this season, operating at just 63.3%, and has been even worse in that 10-game stretch with a lowly 54.6% kill rate.

Thus, I’m taking a peek at the Maple Leafs power play prop market for my best bet tonight, and the best value on the board belongs to Mitch Marner at +210 to record a PPP.

Marner leads the Leafs with 19 points in the man-advantage this season, factoring in on 86.3% of the Leafs’ total power play goals this year.

Toronto has not had immense success on the man-advantage, but it’s not for a lack of trying.

Despite just a 20% power play, the Leafs are second in the league in scoring chances per 60 minutes of play with an extra attacker and rank 3rd in high-danger chances. With the Islanders sporting a league-low .764 SV% on the PK, the Leafs should be able to get one of those chances to drop tonight, with a strong likelihood of Marner being involved.

Maple Leafs vs Islanders same-game parlay (SGP)

Mitchell Marner 2+ shots

William Nylander 2+ shots

John Tavares anytime goal

For the first leg of the SGP, we’ll mirror the Mitch Marner power play point with his 2+ shots prop. Marner is much more trigger-happy with Auston Matthews out of the lineup, hitting this number in each of the last four games since Matthews’ injury. Marner is also averaging 2.57 shots per game.

Next up, we’ll stick with the shot prop market and take William Nylander to record 3+ shots. The Islanders gave up 41 shots in their last game, and Nylander is a volume shooter, leading the Leafs with 128 shots on goal. He’s also had 3 or more shots on net in five of his last six games.

For the final leg of our SGP, we’ll roll with an anytime goal from John Tavares. The former Islander is currently riding a seven-game point streak and has scored in four of the last seven meetings against New York. I like for him to score a revenge goal tonight.
