This is a cushy schedule spot for the Winnipeg Jets against the visiting San Jose Sharks at the Canada Life Centre on Monday, February 24.

Winnipeg has been off since their 4-3 shootout win over the Blues on Friday, while San Jose is playing a second consecutive road game after losing 3-2 to Calgary on Sunday.

My top Sharks vs. Jets predictions and NHL picks expect a strong showing from the home team and are headlined by Winnipeg winger Nikolaj Ehlers.

My Jets analysis
The Winnipeg Jets are a massive home-ice favorite to top the San Jose Sharks on Monday, and in addition to the highlighted schedule edge, these teams are also opposites in the Western Conference standings. Winnipeg is leading the way, while San Jose is floundering in the basement.

A particular shortcoming for the Sharks has been allowing the second-most shots per game, most attempts per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, and ranking 31st with a 45.1 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5.

Add San Jose allowing the most shots per game (12.14) to opposing wingers, and it’s a perfect setup for Winnipeg vet Nikolaj Ehlers to pile up 3+ shots.

After all, Ehlers ranks second in shots and first in attempts per 60 minutes for the Jets, and he’s also a go-to shooter with the No. 1 power-play unit. San Jose has taken the seventh-most minor penalties at 5-on-5 this season, too.

Finally, home ice has been a huge boon to Ehlers’ shot volume. He’s averaged 3.0 shots per game at Canada Life Centre compared to just 1.96 on the highway.

Jets vs Sharks odds analysis

While there has been a 19-cent move to the Winnipeg side of this moneyline at Pinnacle, the implied probability of the Jets winning based on the NHL odds has only moved from 81.6% to 82.2%. Additionally, this is a rare puck line where the number is Winnipeg -2.5, and again, there has been movement to its side, with the Jets opening -2.5 (+119) at Pinnacle and trading at -2.5 (+106) as of Monday morning.

There hasn’t been meaningful action on the total for there to be much movement in the odds. Pinnacle opened with a 6-goal total (-102/-113), and there's been a slight move to the Over 6 (-103/-109).
