The NHL returned from the 4 Nations Face-Off break with a weekend full of hockey. After a 14-game slate on Saturday, there are 10 games on the docket for Sunday.

I’ll focus on the eight later games for these February 23 NHL picks surrounding NHL player props

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Jesper Bratt Over 0.5 Assists (-113 at FanDuel)

Jesper Bratt is one of the more under-the-radar forwards in today’s NHL. The New Jersey Devils winger is right behind Jack Hughes with 66 points (17 goals, 49 assists) in 58 games this season.

Bratt went into the break hot and didn't miss a beat in his return to action on Saturday. He had two assists to extend his point streak to nine games with 14 points (12 assists) in that span.

The Devils lost on Saturday but have a great chance to bounce back against the disappointing Predators. Nashville limited the Avalanche to one goal on Saturday, but the back-to-back should see more action.

Bratt plays on the Devils' top line and their top power-play unit. He has plenty of chances to pick up an assist, which he's now done in 39 of 58 games this season. Take advantage of this -113 at FanDuel, which is priced as highly as -135 at other books.

Jackson LaCombe Over 1.5 shots (-122 at FanDuel)

Jackson LaCombe may not be a household name, but the Anaheim Ducks' defenseman has been impressive this season. The 24-year-old blueliner averages just under 21 minutes per game and has seen his responsibilities increase.

With more playing time has come more shots on goal. He had just 21 shots in his first 16 games, but he's racked up 80 SOG in his last 32 contests. He's averaging over two shots per game and has hit that mark in four straight contests and 11 of his last 12.

LaCombe had three SOG on Saturday in Boston and has now had 2+ SOG in 30 of 48 games this season. That includes 3+ SOG in 16 contests, so a small ladder at +255 might be worth a look tonight in Detroit.

Shane Wright Over 0.5 points (+164 at FanDuel)

Speaking of players that have improved throughout the season, we have Seattle Kraken forward Shane Wright

The youngster had just two points in his first 18 games but has upped that to 31 in his last 37 contests. That includes a two-point game on Saturday in Florida to bring his February total to seven points in just five games.

Wright has now recorded a point in eight of his last nine and 13 of his last 18 contests.

The pricing here at +164 makes sense since the Kraken played on Saturday while the Lightning had another day off, but Wright has recorded a point in each of his last three games on no days rest.
