It’s a quiet night in the NHL on Monday with just a single game. It might not be a big card, but with the surging Sens and the plummeting Predators, there are some props worth looking at.
These are my favorite NHL player props for Monday, February 3.
NHL prop picks and best bets for February 3
- Predators TT u2.5 (+140 at bet365)
- Giroux o0.5 assists (+135 at bet365)
Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Predators team total Under 2.5 (+140 at bet365)
The Ottawa Senators have gone 9-2-1 over the last 30 days and just wrapped up a perfect homestand where they went 4-0 SU and outscored the Leafs, Caps, Wild, and Utah 16-6. The offense has awoken from its slumber but the team’s 2.33 GAA since the Christmas break is only bettered by two teams.
Ottawa will not be going with Linus Ullmark tonight, and instead Anton Forsberg. Forsberg is coming off a four-goal game but he has allowed one or fewer goals in three of his last five games. Forsberg is priced into this +140, as it was +130 before he was confirmed and there was speculation that Ullmark might start. The Ottawa starter has one-goal games vs. Toronto, New Jersey, and Boston over the last two weeks.
The Nashville Predators have dropped four in a row and gone 0-for-10 on the power play over that stretch. The offense continues to be hit-or-miss and despite being at home and favored slightly in a 5.5-total game, Nashville’s team total of 2.5 is paying a very appetizing +140. Ottawa has held its last 12 opponents to two or fewer goals in nine games.
Claude Giroux Over 0.5 assists (+135 at bet365)
Claude Giroux has collected a helper in four straight games and his role on this now-productive Ottawa offense has grown. The winger is playing on the top line and PP1. His minutes are up and so is his production. Josh Norris is questionable, which could lead to the Sens having to lean on the top line even more as this team is not loaded with scoring depth.
It’s a better matchup than at first glance, too. The Preds have been giving up goals in bunches as Juuse Saros has not been a good goalie over a long stretch. Since December, 19, Sarros is 4-8 SU with a 3.29 GAA and very sub-par .877 save percentage.
Even over the last 30 days, those numbers are identical. He has been consistently bad and it's the reason he has lost starts to Justus Annunen.
Ottawa has the offense going and the power play has five goals over it’s last two games. Giroux can chip in tonight and his assists are the best market to attack. Add a Tim Stutzle point to bump it up to +220.
