Lightning vs Hurricanes Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

With a matchup that is inevitably going to give playoff energy, the points will be pivotal for both sides as the Tampa Bay Lightning face off against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Canes are hot and aim to keep it rolling, but the Lightning have other plans as they look to bounce back from a loss.

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes are set for a big meeting down in Raleigh tonight. The Bolts need a big bounce-back game after getting shut out at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

The Hurricanes have won four straight games and five out of their last six, can they keep the streak rolling or will the Bolts ruin their party?

Find out why my Lightning vs. Hurricanes predictions and NHL picks on Tuesday, March 11, favors the road team.

My analysis
Despite being shut out in their last game, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s big dogs have been getting the job done offensively since the Four Nations break. Nikita Kucherov, Jake Guentzel, and Brandon Hagel have all been producing at a minimum of a point per game, with Kucherov leading the way. He has notched 10 points in his last eight games, while Guentzel has nine and Hagel has eight. Brayden Point has also put up seven points in his last eight games.

Since the break, the Bolts are 6-2-0 and have been scoring 3.38 goals per game, while only allowing 2.00 goals against per contest. On the flip side, the Carolina Hurricanes have been winning hockey games, going 5-3-0 in their last eight, but they haven’t been putting many pucks in the net. Carolina is tallying just 2.50 goals per game during this stretch, and their power play has been abysmal, clicking at just a 10.7%.

Since returning from Four Nations, Andrei Vasilevskiy has been one of the best goalies in the NHL, boasting a 5-2-0 record with a. .934 save percentage and a 1.87 goals against average. Tampa also defends very well in front of Vasilevskiy, as the group only surrenders 9.95 high-danger chances against at 5v5 per 60 minutes, which is the eighth best in that category.

This game is going to have a playoff feel to it as the points are extremely important for both teams, but I really like Tampa in this spot with the lack of goal-scoring on Carolina’s side.

Lightning vs Hurricanes same-game parlay (SGP)

Tampa Bay Lightning moneyline

Under 5.5

Hurricanes team total Under 3.5 goals

This is going to be a very tight-checking game as the Lightning are trying to catch the Maple Leafs and the Hurricanes are trying to lock in second in the Metropolitan division. Tampa’s offense has been really good as of late, but the Hurricanes only allow 2.48 goals against on home ice. This, to me has all of the ingrediants to be a low-scoring contests.

Andrei Vasilevskiy is at the top of his game right now, and Carolina has been struggling mightily to put the puck in the back of the net. The Hurricanes have scored 12 goals in their last five games and are scoring less than three goals per game over their past eight games.
