The NHL takes center stage on Saturday, with 13 games spread throughout the day.
The large majority of the games start at 7 p.m. or later, with only three matinee contests on the docket.
I’ll focus on three later games for today’s NHL player props. I’m looking at a few players to stay hot while another struggles to find the scoresheet.
Read on for my NHL player props picks on Saturday, January 25.
NHL prop picks and best bets for January 25
- Victor Hedman 1+ assist (+106 at FanDuel)
- Brady Tkachuk Under 0.5 points (+126 at DraftKings)
- Jonathan Marchessault 1+ assist (+128 at bet365)
Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Victor Hedman 1+ assist (+106 at FanDuel)
Victor Hedman is getting up there in age, but that isn't slowing him down. The Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman has 40 points (33 assists) in 45 games this season and is on pace for another great campaign.
The veteran defenseman had a seven-game point streak snapped earlier this week in Montreal, but he got right back at it with two assists on Friday night in Chicago. He had an assist in six of seven games during that point streak, which also tracks with his splits on the season.
Hedman is as high as -150 to record a point on Saturday night, but we’re getting +105 on the assist market.
The blueliner has a point in 28 of 45 games this season and only four times did he score a goal without recording an assist. That's still over half of his games (24 of 45) with an assist this season.
The Lightning put up five goals on the Detroit Red Wings earlier this month, with Hedman picking up an assist. I’ll happily take the plus odds for him to do that again on Saturday night.
Brady Tkachuk Under 0.5 points (+126 at DraftKings)
The Ottawa Senators are struggling right now. They’ve been shut out in two straight games and have been held to two goals or fewer in five of their last six contests, including a third shutout loss.
Brady Tkachuk hasn’t been immune to that drought. He still has a respectable 38 points in 48 games on the season, but only one point in his last 11 games and none in his last nine.
You'd think that the Senators would be able to get up for Hockey Night in Canada against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night, but it might not be that easy.
Outside of a 5-1 loss against the Blue Jackets with Denis Hildeby in net, the Leafs allowed three goals in each of their previous three games.
It doesn’t help that Tkachuk hasn’t performed that well against the Leafs in recent memory. He only has one point in the last five meetings since the start of last season.
Jonathan Marchessault 1+ assist (+128 at bet365)
The Nashville Predators have turned a corner recently, and they’ve been led by their big offseason additions. Jonathan Marchessault is one of them, with a nine-game assist streak (10-game point streak) and 25 points (15 assists) in his last 19 games since December 10th.
The Predators are big favorites on Saturday night in Anaheim, with the total set at 6. Nashville has piled in the goals recently, with 19 goals in its last three games and 27 in its last five.
The Preds have a great chance to prey on an Anaheim Ducks team that recently allowed five goals to the Florida Panthers at home.
Once again, you can take the safer route and just go with Marchessault to record a point, but that’s juiced up at -178. We’re getting +128 here for an assist and the winger has a helper in 20 of 47 games this season, including nine straight and 11 of his last 13 contests.
