NHL Player Props and Best Bets Today for 11-3: Leon Loads Up

Leon Draisaitl has had no choice but to ramp up his scoring with Connor McDavid sidelined and that's a trend we expect to continue against the Flames tonight.

It’s a seven-game Sunday in the NHL, with a couple of rivalries taking center stage as the Rangers and Islanders collide this afternoon before the Oilers and Flames reignite the Battle of Alberta later tonight.

I’ll dig into both of those games as Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl and Islanders blueliner Noah Dobson highlight my NHL picks for Sunday, November 3.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Leon Draisaitl Over 0.5 goals

+131 at Pinnacle

The Edmonton Oilers are still without Connor McDavid, but thankfully, Leon Draisaitl has stepped up to the challenge.

The Oilers forward was all over the score sheet in his last outing, logging two goals and an assist in a 5-1 drubbing of the Predators on Thursday night, and I’m expecting him to continue to shoulder the load offensively with another tally tonight.

He’s been pretty consistent at putting the puck in the net so far this season, with at least one goal in six of his last 10 games. He’s been getting even hotter of late, though, notching five goals in his last four games thanks to two multi-goal performances in his last three.

The Calgary Flames shut out the Devils on Friday but had been in a rut over the previous four, allowing 4.75 goals per game through four straight losses. Some of those defensive woes come down to a poor penalty kill, which is operating at just 73% — the seventh-worst mark in the NHL.

Draisaitl has just one power-play goal this year after scoring 21 last season, and while the Oilers are without their top playmaker, Draisaitl is due for some puck luck on the man advantage.

Prop bet #2: Noah Dobson Over 2.5 shots

-111 at Pinnacle

Noah Dobson emerged as one of the NHL’s premier offensive defensemen last season, notching 70 points in 79 games to finish second on the New York Islanders in scoring behind only Mathew Barzal.

Dobson has yet to score a goal this season but it’s certainly not for lack of trying. The blueliner is averaging 3.18 shots per game, good for sixth among all defensemen in the NHL and fourth among all Islanders skaters.

He’s recorded 3+ shots in seven of his last eight games — a span that includes six straight contests with 4+ shots.

The New York Rangers have been one of the league’s best teams to start the season with a 7-2-1 record through 10 games, but they’ve allowed plenty of pucks on net. The Blueshirts are giving up 32.7 shots per game — fourth-most in the NHL.

That’s a good sign for a shooter like Dobson and a good sign for us to take the Over at 2.5 shots.

Prop bet #3: Kirill Kaprizov Over 1.5 points

+123 at Pinnacle

Kirill Kaprizov has been a dominant force ever since moving over to the NHL in 2020-21, but we may only now be seeing the best of the Minnesota Wild forward.

Kaprizov co-leads the league with 21 points and is riding a monstrous seven-game multi-point streak heading into tonight’s contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Wild star is coming off a three-point performance against the Lightning, marking his third three-point outing in his last four games.

The Wild, who are averaging 3.90 goals per game (fourth), could be looking at a big offensive night against a Maple Leafs team that’s surrendered 4+ goals in five of its last six games.

On the flipside, Minnesota has scored 5+ goals in three straight and four of its last five contests. Those two trends could set the table for another multi-point game for Kaprizov.
