It's a giant 11-game slate tonight and with lines constantly juggling and opportunities increasing for plenty of skaters, there are always spots to hit some point props, and that's the goal this Tuesday night.
Tonight, I'm targeting a pair of point stacks with some uncommon pairs while going to elevation to find some big plus money for a power-play point from a returning player. These are three of my favorite NHL player props for November 5.
NHL prop picks and best bets for November 5
- Celebrini + Granlund o0.5 points each (+138 at DraftKings)
- Huberdeau + Sharangovich o0.5 points each (+202 at DraftKings)
- Lehkonen o0.5 power play points (+280 at bet365)
Picks made on 11-5 at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Prop bet #1: Macklin Celebrini + Mikael Granlund Over 0.5 points each
The first overall pick will return to the ice tonight in a great matchup as San Jose Sharks forward Macklin Celebrini will play his second game of the season after missing the last 12 games.
In his first game on October 10, the franchise player had a goal and an assist in 17:35 of ice time — both points coming at 5-on-5. He will be put in the best scoring opportunities tonight vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets, who play plenty of high-scoring games with a 8-3 O/U record.
Celebrini will play with Tyler Toffoli and Mikael Granlund, with the latter being the target to stack for a point. Granlund is more than a point-per-game player and has a point in eight of his last 10 games.
Celebrini is young enough that I'm not worried about his workload in his return to the lineup and he can get on the score sheet with just 16 minutes of ice time thanks to playing on the top line and top power play. He is -125 at bet365 for a point, which is a good look too.
Prop bet #2: Jonathan Huberdeau + Yegor Sharangovich Over 0.5 points each
The Calgary Flames will be happy to play the Montreal Canadiens tonight as the Calgary offense is on a cold streak, but the Habs are a slump-buster with the highest xGA/60 at all strength. Montreal is giving up 4.08 goals per game on the season, and that includes a decent penalty kill. This Montreal team is bleeding goals at 5-on-5 and the Flames can put up 4+ goals tonight.
As of Tuesday morning, there is only one line stack that plays together at 5-on-5 and on the first power-play unit, and that's Jonathan Huberdeau and Yegor Sharangovich. The pair is paying +202 for a point apiece with each skater around -130 individually. This price is still great value as the true price is around +189, but when they play all their shifts together, the chance of them pointing together is very high.
Montreal has seen some blowouts this year. Over their last nine games, the Habs have allowed six or more goals half the time.
Prop bet #3: Artturi Lehkonen Over 0.5 power play points
The Colorado Avalanche will get some help tonight as winger Artturi Lehkonen will draw back into the lineup for the first time this year. The Avalanche have been decimated with injuries to that top-line winger spot and Lehkonen will slot right in and play first unit on a power play that ranks second in the league at 34% and has been even better at home.
The other skaters on that power play are paying -160 to +110, so the net-front winger at +280 is a solid price for a probable PP unit today. The Seattle Kraken are a league-average penalty kill but will be in tough vs. a Colorado PP that has six power-play goals across its last five home games and in eight of its last nine overall.
There is no price discount on Lehkonen for a point as he is -180, and even adding Mikko Rantanen for a point is still just -130, but the power play is the best spot to find some value with the return of a very important piece of this Colorado offense.
